I am pleased with schoolwide safety measures this school year, and thank the following safety committee members who have committed their time, talent, and energy in keeping our school safe:

In next week’s newsletter, I plan to highlight the accomplishments achieved with regards to school-wide safety initiatives this school year. Today, the safety committee will meet as planned. The group has been meeting monthly and gaining lots of traction this school year as each meeting is captured as a repository on Google Docs.
Lastly, in today’s newsletter you will see a public announcement from Solar Craft. Solar Craft is the company that will be placing solar panels on our school and parish roofs. The aforementioned match our faith’s social justice standards, and will certainly mitigate costs over time, while helping God’s creation and our environment.

Installation of solar panels on our new roof is scheduled to begin Monday, April 1st. Supplies have arrived and we're ready to go!
Our solar panels are designed and installed by SolarCraft; California Clean Energy (CCE), a Renewable Energy Service Provider for nonprofit organizations, who will own the system and recover its costs through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Christ the King.
The solar power system is roof mounted for maximum southern sun exposure on the main school building and gym. It consists of 569 high-efficiency solar panels producing 273,600 kWh annually. Excess power generated during the day is banked by PG&E for credit towards future use when the when the sun isn’t shining.
Every year over 193 metric tons of carbon dioxide generated by Christ the King’s operations will be eliminated. This impact is equivalent to removing air pollution produced by over almost 12 million miles of driving over 25 years or the pollutants removed by 228 acres of trees in one year.

We have been working hard over the last month to wrap up Auction 2019 and we couldn’t wait to share the numbers with all of you! We’re thrilled everyone had such a great time and we are grateful for the community that continues to strengthen through this fun event! We raised an amazing amount of money and we would like to thank you for your incredible generosity and support!

Every contribution by these families helped meet and exceed our Auction fundraising goal.
It is because of YOU this event was so successful. The money raised benefits all the children at CTK - in Religious Education, Youth Ministry, and helps lower tuition for the students at Christ the King School. Thank you!

HISTORY & USE OF PROCEEDS
Proceeds from auction benefit every student in the CTK community. Youth Ministry and Religious Education each receive a 5% share of non-Fund-a-Need income.
Historically, Christ the King budgets $100,000 of fundraising income into our general operating budget. This is line item 4150 Large Fundraisers in our chart of accounts for all my finance friends out there. This $100k is fulfilled by only Auction and Festival income. Other fund raising activities such as Walk-A-Jog-A-Thon, Golf, and Scrip each have their own recipients and separate budget lines.
The $100k is used to pay for shared operating expenses such as salaries, benefits, and utilities. (As opposed to fee income, which covers per student expenses like textbooks, paper, school department fees etc). This $100k in income is also how we artificially keep our tuition lower than our competition while at the same time maintaining the staff and programming that we value for student success. Each family receives a discount of about $450 off of their yearly tuition because of the dedication and generosity of the Large Fundraising teams.
