Legislative Session Has Begun!

Join MHA AZ's Advocacy Network and Receive Action Alerts During Legislative Session!

As a voice for the people of Arizona who are or could be impacted by mental illness, MHA AZ and its members are dedicated to shaping public policy. We are asking our Advocacy network from around Arizona to join these efforts by contacting Arizona policy makers when important issues are being considered.

It is easy to participate in these efforts through the use of your computer and ALIS (Arizona Legislative Information System). This is how it will work:

1. MHA AZ will identify important legislative proposals which could impact (positively or negatively) our state's mental health system.

2. MHA AZ will alert you when actions are likely on proposed legislation and ask you to contact legislators or (when appropriate) the Governor.

3. Each  Action Alert  will provide you with information and ideas for messaging and suggest an action (for example, contact individual legislators or sign in for committees).

Request to Speak System

The Request To Speak (RTS) system is a website that allows the public to register opinions and voice comments on bills as they pass through the Arizona Senate and House of Representatives. If you'd like to have MHA AZ to create an account for you, please complete the Request to Speak Sign Up Form
Need help navigating RTS? Below, you'll find a video by Shannon Schell from Protecting Arizona's Family Coalition and Zaida Dedolph from ACAA that details how to use the Arizona State Legislature's RTS System.

New Community Resources

The  All of Us  Research Program offers free downloadable materials to help community members and others spread the word about the program. Our community of participants and engagement partners is constantly growing. We will provide information about news, events, and other ways you can connect with other people taking part.

Did you know that Text-to-9-1-1 is available in Maricopa County?

The ability to text authorities in emergency situations became a reality for Maricopa County in April. A lawsuit filed by Arizona Center for Disability Law attorneys and deaf plaintiffs prompted emergency management officials in the nation's fourth-largest county to modify the 9-1-1 system to accommodate texting. The settlement also provided seed money for other Arizona counties to start a text-to-9-1-1 system.
