Government Shutdown

Finally some good news is coming out of Washington D.C. A new bipartisan group of rank-and-file senators has formed to discuss how to end the weeks-long government shutdown, with talks between congressional leaders and the White House at a standstill, according to the Washington Post. The terrible shutdown has penalized hardworking Americans and treated them like pawns in the dirty game of the rich and powerful, and the backlash from residents could force lawmakers to finally act responsibly. Congressman King loses House committee seat over White Supremacy remarks

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters Monday that the GOP had voted unanimously to remove Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, from all committees amid the rising uproar over his recent comments about white nationalism. The change came after King told the New York Times last week that “White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” Click here for more …..

2019 could boost commercial real estate

Commercial property sales fell 10.5 percent from 2017, according to CoStar Group Inc. data

According to data by Washington, D.C.-based real estate information service CoStar Group Inc., last year there were 2,746 commercial real estate sales in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018. That's a 10.5 percent decline from the 3,067 recorded in the 2017 calendar year and down 11.1 percent from 2015, the high water mark this century, when there were 3,090, CoStar data shows.
