Council approves more conservation measures for Glen Abbey Golf Course
Oakville Council approved additional planning and conservation measures designed to conserve the cultural heritage value and attributes of the Glen Abbey Golf Course at its Planning and Development Council meeting on Tuesday night.

These measures included specific official plan and zoning amendments, a Cultural Heritage Landscape Conservation Plan by-law, and a Cultural Heritage Landscape Conservation Plan for the Glen Abbey property.

Staff also tabled proposed amendments to existing town site alteration, private tree protection and property standards by-laws with respect to cultural heritage landscapes and protected heritage properties. All of these measures have helped further the town's implementation of the planning and cultural heritage studies that were undertaken while the town's interim control by-law (ICB) restricted Glen Abbey to its existing uses.
Upcoming events and other information

Former hospital site open house 

Join us on February 8 for  an opportunity to tell us what you think of design options for the park being planned for the former hospital site.  We will also present information about  the proposed civic space in front of the former Oakville Trafalgar High School, the South East Community Centre design choices and options for a rejuvenated Wallace Park.  The meeting takes place at Town Hall at 7 p.m.

Spend Family Day with us!

The town's 10th annual Make Your Move Family Day will once again offer a full slate of activities and special events for all ages and abilities on Monday, February 19. Classes include volleyball, basketball, yoga and so much more.  Get active and spend quality time with family and friends at locations throughout Oakville. There's something for everyone and it's all free! 
Ash tree removals continue

For public safety and to help our forests regrow, we continue to remove dead and dying ash trees destroyed by Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). This winter trees will be  removed from  Maple Valley Park,  Birchview Park,  Wedgewood Park,  Warren Drive Park,  Charnwood Park and Beechnut Forest Park.  Trees marked with a yellow dot, slash or an orange X will be removed. Trees with an orange dot will be pruned.
