STEM School announces expansion project and collaboration with Air Force Research Laboratory
Kettering OH, 10/8/2018 -

During its 10th anniversary year, the Dayton Regional STEM School will embark on a major capital project to ensure that students can continue to receive a rich experience in a facility that reflects a commitment to STEM education. That vision includes expanded spaces to support learning, cross-curricular collaboration, partner engagement, and a growing student body.

A 30,000 square foot renovation of unoccupied building space will expand the school's footprint to create a science lab, assembly space, flexible learning laboratory, and five new classrooms. This new space will also be the home of the Air Force Research Laboratory's 711th Human Performance Wing's Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory (GRILL®).

The GRILL® is an educational outreach program that inspires student interest in STEM through modeling and simulation software, helping equip the region's next generation of critical defense workforce. Because the GRILL® and STEM have missions that closely align, this co-location is sure to make a positive and lasting impact on the Dayton community.

Synergy Building Systems was awarded the project after a competitive bid process. The company plans to begin construction in October, with an expected completion date in March 2019.

A "Brick Breaking Ceremony" will be held at the STEM School on Friday, October 19th at 10:30am. Remarks will be made by leadership from AFRL and 711HPW, the Dayton Regional STEM School, and Synergy Building Systems. This event is free and open to the public.

Go to stembrickbreaking.eventbrite.com for more information and to RSVP. We hope to see you join us in celebrating this exciting new project and partnership!
