Tree Planting Workday at Fresno River West 
Saturday, January 12, 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Join the Trust's River Stewards volunteers as we plant native native trees and shrubs to restore a former gravel mining pond. This event will run from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm, and is suitable for groups and individuals of all ages. All equipment is provided.

River Steward volunteers help with habitat restoration, removal of invasive exotic plants, trail maintenance, and river cleanup events. No prerequisites or long term commitments are necessary; just sign up and be ready to enjoy a day on the San Joaquin River Parkway.

River Center 
Join us for a Gardening Angels volunteer event next Saturday morning and help make the River Center look great. This is a fun opportunity to spend time with experienced gardeners while enjoying a peaceful morning outdoors. 

We'll begin work at 8:15 am, and plan to work until 12:00 pm. Bring your favorite pair of gloves and loppers or hedge shears.

Join our Education Programs
Education Programs Volunteer River Buddies/ Pre-K Training:
Saturday January 12, 9:30 am - 11:30 am
The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run the River Field Trip Education Programs. If you're interested in bringing youth together with nature by becoming an Education Docent, join us for this training to learn more about our upcoming field trip programs!

This training introduces Education Docents to the various educational programs offered by the River Parkway Trust and prepares them to lead River Buddies Pre-K field trips at the River Center. River Buddies field trips take place various weekday mornings from 9:00 am - 11:00 am throughout the semester. In 2019, the River Buddies program will focus on a "pond pals" theme, exploring the animals that live in or near aquatic ecosystems.

Annual Rose Pruning Party  
Saturday, January 19 - 8:30 am
Michael Harman, Fresno Master Gardener, will again offer instruction and supervision. Join us to learn how to properly prune roses during dormancy. Bring clippers and gloves (leather is best in mean roses) if you have them. Some tools and gloves will be available. 

A warming lunch will be served after rose pruning.

We hope to see you for this fun workday. Your help in maintaining the lovely River Center grounds is greatly appreciated!

Parties for the Parkway Kickoff Committee Meeting 
Tuesday, January 22 - 3:00 pm 
Do you enjoy event planning? Would you like to help make the 2019 Parties for the Parkway Kickoff event a success? The first Parties for the Parkway Kickoff Committee meeting will be held on January 22. We're looking for volunteers to join the fun in planning the event. 

The 2019 Kickoff Party will be held on Thursday, March 7, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District Building. The gift of your time will really make a difference as we kick off a new year of Parties for the Parkway.

Parking Volunteers Needed For Sycamore Island 10K/5K Race
Sunday, January 27- 6:30 am - 8:00 am
The 3rd Annual Sycamore Island 10k/5k race will be held on Sunday, January 27. We are recruiting volunteers to help manage parking for the race.

Volunteers will help direct traffic, manage the parking area, and provide basic info for race participants. All parking volunteers will be required to wear a reflective safety vest.

This race helps introduce residents to the wonders found at Sycamore Island. Your support as a volunteer will help make the race a success.
