Ann Cairns
Vice Chairman, Mastercard
In her role as vice chairman, Ann represents Mastercard around the world, focusing on inclusion, diversity and innovation. She plays the important role of senior ambassador and executive leader with a global remit and serves on the company’s management committee.
Prior to her appointment, Ann was president of International Markets responsible for the management of all customer-related activities in over 200 countries around the world. In this role, she focused on building sustainable, strong growth rates across both mature and emerging markets.
Prior to joining Mastercard in August 2011, Ann was head of the Financial Services Group with Alvarez & Marsal in London, where she led the European team managing Lehman Brothers Holdings International through the Chapter 11 process. In addition she helped restructure banks across Europe including Ireland & Iceland.
Ann has also held senior positions within many global organizations including a tenure as CEO, Transaction Banking at ABN-AMRO, and 15 years in senior operational positions at Citigroup.
Ann sits on the board of the Fortune 500 company Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and is chair of ICE Clear Europe.
A Pure Mathematics degree from Sheffield University and a M.Sc. with research into medical statistics from Newcastle University resulted in an early career as an award-winning research engineer, culminating as the Head of Offshore Engineer-Planning for British Gas where Ann was the first woman qualified to go offshore in Britain.
Diana Chan
Former Chief Executive Officer, EuroCCP
Diana Chan became CEO of EuroCCP Ltd, a central counterparty for equities trades, in 2007 at the start of pan-European equities trading and clearing. After the company combined with EMCF N.V. in 2013, she became the CEO of the new company EuroCCP N.V., headquartered in Amsterdam. In the last ten years, Diana played an instrumental role in the transformation of equities clearing by advocating dynamic efficiency through competition and interoperability. She left EuroCCP in September 2018.
Under her leadership, EuroCCP was named Clearing House of the Year in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016 in the Financial News (FN) Awards for Excellence in Trading and Technology. The award is won by the firm receiving the most votes from industry leaders and experts.
Diana received a number of industry awards, including the Global Custodian Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. She has been named one of the FN100 Most Influential Women in Finance for 9 years, and was one of the FN100 Most Influential People in Finance in 2015 and 2016. In 2018, she received the second-highest score for the Industry Leader of the Year award.
Prior to 2007, Diana worked at Euroclear Operations Centre, JP Morgan, Bank of New York, and Citi. At these institutions, she had a variety of global and regional management roles in post-trade services in Europe, America and Asia, with responsibilities for strategy, market policy, product management, network management and financial control.
Diana was born in The People’s Republic of China and left for the British colony of Hong Kong as a refugee in a fishing boat under the care of her grandmother when she was two years old. She is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong and Harvard Business School.
Eva Lindholm
Head of Wealth Management UK and Jersey, UBS
Eva Lindholm, GMD, is Head of Wealth Management UK & Jersey. She was previously co-head of UHNW and GFO for Europe and the Emerging Markets. Eva joined UBS in 2012. Prior to joining UBS, Eva worked for JPMorgan for over twenty years in a number of senior product and client coverage roles in the JPMorgan Investment Bank. Most recently, she was responsible for the build out of JPMorgan's Corporate Bank in EMEA. Eva has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Dartmouth College. She served on the Board of Transport for London as well its Finance and Policy Committee, from 2006 to 2016..
Susan Payne
Chief Executive, Holistic Agricultural Investments Group Ltd, Africa
Executive Chairman, Emvest Agri Corp Ltd, Africa
Susan began her career as a lawyer, being called to the Bar and completing her Articles, before deciding to work in finance, where she then co-launched and managed emerging markets businesses at JP Morgan and later Goldman Sachs. Thereafter, she started an emerging markets hedge fund and, 10 years later, co-founded a private equity fund focused on food security, involving growing, processing and distributing food on a commercial scale across sub-Saharan Africa. Susan has now spent a decade managing food companies across 5 countries in SSA, including Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. In 2016, after the Fund had closed, Susan then co-founded a new agricultural management company called Holistic Agricultural Investments Group Ltd, which co-owns and operates two commercial farming companies, one in Mozambique (c.3000 acres) and one in Zambia (c.7000 acres).
Susan is particularly interested in environmental issues and sustainability around recycling, land use and large projects. One of her interests going forward is to start a business focused on recycling plastics in Africa.
Susan was born in Vancouver, attended school in Rome, Italy and completed three university degrees (BA, MA, LLB), attending Oxford, McGill and St Andrews. She is the Chairman of Girls Rugby Development at Guildford Rugby Club and also enjoys skiing, distance running, hiking and scuba diving. Susan has 3 children aged 13-18 years old.
