Please note the information below in preparation for our April 2018 Alumni General Membership Meeting:
General Membership Meeting  
 
Our next Alumni General Membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 5, 2018, 6:00 pm in the Ernest N. Morial Library - McDonogh 35 Library, 4000 Cadillac Street, located on the first floor.  As always, please contact fellow Roneagles and either bring them with you or encourage them to attend and become an official paid member of the McDonogh 35 Alumni Association. Click here for the  April Meeting Agenda, January and February Treasurer Report, and March Financial Secretary Report  .

Special Meeting Follow Up
 
On Monday, February 19, 2018 alumni were presented the results of the survey that was sent out in December and a compilation of the members' comments regarding the articulation of what the McDonogh 35 legacy means to them. Superintendent Lewis and representatives of Orleans Parish School Board presented the transition plan for the management of McDonogh 35 High School going forward. Alumni submitted questions which were asked of the Superintendent and had the opportunity to make comments regarding the presentation and our school's future.  The questions and response received are available here.. 
Centennial Scholarship Run/Walk

Calling All Alumni, Students, Family, and Neighbors,
The McDonogh 35 Alumni Association is hosting a Scholarship Run/Walk from our former location (1331 Kerlerec Street) to our campus (4000 Cadillac Street). The two-mile journey through the 7th Ward will conclude with a celebration of McDonogh 35 High School's Centennial and the City of New Orleans' Tricentennial.
Proceeds will benefit the McDonogh 35 Alumni Association's Scholarship Fund.

Roneagle in the Spotlight 
 


Dr. Zakee O. Shabazz, DPM, serves the Washington D.C. area from his private practice, Fair Oaks Podiatry & Sports Medicine in Fairfax, Virginia. Believing that feet provide the foundation for a healthy life, Dr. Shabazz specializes in the treatment of wound care, sports medicine, and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Shabazz offers the latest technologies in Digital x-ray and Diagnostic Ultrasound.

Dr. Zakee Shabazz is a native of New Orleans, LA. He graduated from McDonogh 35 in 1993.  He continued is educationXavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, Pre-medicine in 1997. He attended New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) from 1997- 2001 and graduated cum laude. He also received many honors and awards, and he held numerous leadership positions such as sophomore class vice-president, junior class president, and senior class president.

After graduating from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in June 2001, Dr. Shabazz immediately entered a three-year podiatric medical and surgical residency (PM&S-36) at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, which is associated with Weil-Cornell Medical School. He achieved the distinctive rank of chief resident, during his last year of residency. The residency program emphasized extensive training in wound care, sports medicine, congenital foot deformities, foot/ankle trauma and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Shabazz began private practice in Marina Del Rey, California in 2004.  Dr. Shabazz became the Assistant Director of the Hollywood-Presbyterian Hospital Podiatric Residency Program in Los Angeles, California- training and mentoring future Podiatrists.  

Dr. Shabazz relocated to Sterling, Virginia in 2006, and he continued to build professional relationships that resulted in the establishment of Fair Oaks Podiatry and Sports Medicine in Fairfax, Virginia in 2009.

Dr. Shabazz served as an Attending Physician with INOVO Mt. Vernon and INOVA Fair Oaks Wound Healing Centers in Virginia from 2009-2014.

Dr. Shabazz is on staff at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, and Northern Virginia Surgery Center on campus of INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital.

Dr. Shabazz currently serves as Chief of Podiatry at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, VA.

The Association's Fiscal Year is from October 1September 30. You may now pay your 2017-18 Alumni Dues via PayPal. Yearly Membership dues are $35 and Lifetime Membership dues are $350. Lifetime Membership dues may also be paid in five $70 installment payments. Also when you pay please put your graduating year in the comment section (and, if you are paying with your business account, your first & last name as well).  Please pay by clicking on the appropriate PayPal button below.

*Pins can be picked up at General Meetings in New Orleans, Dallas, or DC.  Lifetime Membership cards will be mailed to the address on file within 30 days.  
 
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS MUST BE PAID IN THE SAME FISCAL YEAR. IF INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS ARE NOT RECEIVED BY SEPT. 30, 2018,  THE PAYMENTS MADE, LESS 17-18, DUES WILL BE REALLOCATED TO SCHOLARSHIPS.
