National Scholastic Art Award
Congratulations to Serena McCarthy '21 whose Op- Art Drawing,
"Trapped" received a Silver Medal at the national level of the Scholastic Art Award. Students across the nation
in grades 7-12 (ages 13 and up) apply in 29
categories
of art and writing. In 2019, students submitted nearly 340,000 works of art and writing to the Scholastic Awards. Fenwick students received a total of 32 awards including 2 Gold Keys. Gold Key works are then judged nationally by an impressive panel of creative-industry experts to receive National Medals. Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Congratulations, Serena!

HYPE 2019
Hosting Young Philosophy Enthusiasts
HYPE, hosted by New Hampshire's Souhegan High School's Ethics Forum, was held on March 14th at the Hamel Student Recreation Center at UNH Durham. HYPE, which stands for "Hosting Young Philosophy Enthusiasts" was founded by Souhegan seniors in 2009 as an opportunity for high school students to have meaningful philosophical discussions centered on philosophical topics of ethics and civil discourse.This year's topic is:
What should the role of the media be in our society?
Religion faculty member Mr. Canniff participated with sophomores Colby Browne, Caitlin Desmond, Lyndsay Grundy, and Natalia Scolaro who joined over
1000 students at this year's event. The day, which included
presentations along with question and answer periods, was led by Souhegan High School students and focused on the value of student-led leadership teams and the new emerging SPEL (Students Practicing Ethical Leadership) program. Centered at St. Anselm College's Center for Ethics in Business and Governance, we share our gratitude to Fenwick Alum Jeff Burke '65, (St. Anselm '69), who has been actively involved with HYPE and introduced the program to our community.

poke about what Catholic education has meant to them at the Elementary School Faculty Retreat hosted by our partner school, St. Mary of the Annunciation of Danvers. Retreat participants also included faculty from Immaculate Conception, Revere, St. Anthony's, Everett, OLA, Lynnfield, St. John the Baptist, Peabody and St Pius, Lynn.

Day of Reflection
The Junior Day of Reflection was held today at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Centering around the theme of forgiveness, the day involved group activities, prayer, discussion, reflection, mission presentations, Adoration and Confession. The day ended with the celebration of Mass before returning to Fenwick.

Make a Difference
this Lent
Franciscan Hospital and the Children's Closet -donate clothing to two great organizations that honor the care of newborns and infants from difficult environments.
Campus Ministry will be collecting new or gently used clothing outside of the chapel. Click for additional info.
Clean Water Mission - join with the Sisters of Notre Dame to help bring clean water to families in Africa, South and Cental America. Each homeroom will have one "water bottle" to fill with dimes.
Every dime pays for a water purifier which is shipped and distributed by the Sisters to children and families in Africa, South and Central America. Click for additional info.
