Thank you Dr. Posthuma for this week's athletic update!
Week of March 11-15:
Fullerton Track and Field simply had an outstanding week! The highlights began at our away meet at La Habra HS on Thursday. The team swept La Habra at all four levels! Then, at the Rotary Club's City of Fullerton Championships, our athletes won a total of 27 medals, including 10 city champions! Athletes of the meet were Michael Lopez-Alibar and Rosemary Kehoe. Rosie set a new city record in the 400 meters with a time of 58.71. Great job Fullerton Track and Field!
Our swim team also began Freeway League competition. The weekly events began with a diving competition on Tuesday, March 12. FUHS has a single diver, her name is Jade Carson. In her first high school competition, she placed 3rd out of 14 league divers! At the swim meet on Wednesday, the girls varsity swim team defeated La Habra HS and the boys narrowly lost, 42-38, All in all, a great week for Fullerton HS Aquatics!
The boys tennis team is also playing well. They also traveled to La Habra for their first league match. The boys played very well, sweeping every game against the highlanders, winning 18-0! This week, the boys take on Sonora at home on Tuesday and travel to Sunny Hills on Thursday.
The boys golf team is continuing to play their best. They lost two close matches against California High this past week. Junior Enzo Chen has led the team with outstanding scores in all of his matches. The boys play Sonora at La Mirada Golf Course on Tuesday and Sunny Hills at Coyote Hills Golf Course on Thursday. Good luck boys!
Our softball team has completed their non- league season. The team has played a series of strong opponents. The girls record is 6-8 with 4 of their 8 losses coming by 1 run! The strengths of the team are pitching and defense. The team is playing well but wants to begin league play with a strong performance against their first league opponent, La Habra. The girls play at La Habra on Wednesday, then at home against Sonora on Thursday. Good luck girls!
Finally, our baseball team just ended the first round of league play (they play three rounds). The team is 3-2 in league and 7-5 overall. The boys defeated Buena Park on Wednesday but lost a tough game against Troy HS on Friday. This week, they play La Habra twice. Tuesday at home and Thursday at La Habra. Every game is hard fought. Every victory is crucial in their quest to repeat as league champions.
