Film and discussion led by Cantor Emeritus Laurence D. Loeb.
On a summer day in 1945, an Orthodox man and his grown son return to a village in Hungary while the villagers prepare for the wedding of the town clerk’s son. The townspeople—suspicious, remorseful, fearful, and cunning—expect the worst and behave accordingly. The town clerk fears the men may be heirs of the village’s deported Jews and expects them to demand their illegally acquired property back.

Mazel Tov! Between Kol Ami, our wonderful extended community, and our amazing matching angels, it went down to the wire but thankfully your generosity helped us to surpass our High Holiday Appeal goal of $205,000!
These crucial funds supplement our dues and allows us to provide you with the very best clergy, staff, and programs for members and students. Thank you to everyone who donated to Congregation Kol Ami—a Congregation for All our People.
Yashar Koach—way to go!

We are excited to have beautiful, new chairs in our main sanctuary, adding comfort and aesthetic appeal to our worship experience.
These chairs are where we, as a community, will sit together in unity to pray, to learn, and to celebrate many
simchas
. In these chairs, our community members will sit at difficult moments, no longer having to be uncomfortable as they remember a loved one in anticipation of
Kaddish
.
Though donating a chair does not ensure that that specific seat will be reserved for the donor, it does ensure that for decades to come, people will be able to come into our sanctuary and see the donor’s generosity and communal investment.
