More than 1,500 Attend Springtastic Egg Hunt and Festival

Hundreds of Moreno Valley children hunted for more than 12,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes across several fields at the City’s Springtastic Egg Hunt and Festival on April 8 at Sunnymead Park.

More than 1,500 people attended.

Breakfast was served up after the Egg Hunt by the Moreno Valley Morning Optimist Club. The club also donated bicycles, helmets and other prizes to the event.

This year’s Springtastic Festival also featured music, an inflatable fun zone, and spring-themed activities.

Veterans Resource Center Connects Veterans with Support, Benefits

The Moreno Valley Public Library is home to a Veterans Resource Center to help returning military personnel and their families find the support and benefit information they need.

Veterans Resource Center volunteers serve as a point of contact to ensure that veterans and their families can get connected to the state and federal benefits they have earned through their military service.

If you are a veteran and interested in volunteering at our Veterans Resource Center, please contact our volunteer coordinator at the library at 951-413-3898.

City Seeking Vendors for Fourth of July Family FunFest

The City of Moreno Valley is seeking vendors for its Fourth of July Family FunFest celebration.

Family FunFest will be held on Tuesday, July 4 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at March Mountain Middle School and Morrison Park.

More than 12,000 people are expected to attend.

Applications are now being accepted for a variety of vendors including: food and beverages, arts and crafts, non-profit groups and others.

Funfest vendor applications are available at the Moreno Valley Conference & Recreation Center, 14075 Frederick Street, or online at www.moval.org/fourth

The application deadline is April 28 at 4:30 p.m. Vendors will be selected through a lottery drawing.

Vendor Lottery Information:  

  • Vendors are required to submit a completed vendor application to the Parks and Community Services Department (PCSD) by Friday, April 28 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

  • City of Moreno Valley will conduct the vendor lottery on Tuesday, May 2. Vendors are welcome to attend, but attendance is not required to be selected.

  • Selected vendors will be notified by phone on Wednesday, May 3 .

  • Selected vendors will be provided an appointment time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9 to review and complete required paperwork.

This year’s Family FunFest will include live band performances from “So Rad,” “Latin Fusion,” and “The MVPs.”  Family FunFest will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m., which will be simulcast on radio station KOLA 99.9 FM.

The City of Moreno Valley's Fourth of July Parade and Family Fun Fest are sponsored by Skechers, Waste Management, Les Schwab Tire Center, Duke Realty and The Sares-Regis Group.

City to Host Second Town Hall Focusing on Proposed Budget

The City of Moreno Valley will host a second Town Hall on Saturday, April 15 to discuss the City's proposed budget for major programs for fiscal years 2017/18 and 2018/19.

The first Budget Town Hall was held April 12. The Town Halls are part of the City's continued efforts to seek public input and provide residents with information about the City's budget.

The City's two-year General Fund budget is currently being developed to maintain a balanced budget which implements the City's "Momentum MoVal" strategic plan while ensuring ongoing costs are funded by ongoing revenues.

This spending plan will guide the City through its sixth consecutive year of financial stability. 
 
The Town Halls provide additional opportunities for Moreno Valley residents to be part of the discussion on the City's long term financial priorities and the development of the proposed two-year budget. City staff will incorporate feedback they receive at these sessions into funding recommendations presented subsequently to the City Council for deliberation.

Artists Wanted to Paint Senior Center Mural

Show off your artistic skills by helping paint a community mural at the Moreno Valley Senior Center. This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for local artists to create a showpiece for the City’s Senior Center while giving back to our community. 

The Moreno Valley Senior Center serves more than 36,000 seniors a year, providing classes, lunch, bingo and much more. The project will enhance the Senior Center’s ambiance by adding murals about Moreno Valley painted by local artists. 

The Moreno Valley Senior Center is located at 25075 Fir Avenue in Moreno Valley. All painting materials will be provided to artists who volunteer their services.

Earth Day: Free Mulch Give Away

Looking to spruce up your garden?

The City of Moreno Valley is hosting a Free Mulch Give Away on Saturday, April 22 in celebration of Earth Day.

Free mulch is available to Moreno Valley residents only The City will provide one truck load or 100 pounds of mulch per visit. Please bring a tarp to cover your load.

Tools and on-site supervision will be provided.

Although the contents of the mulch have been screened, there may still remain a small portion of non-green waste matter in the mulch.

Moreno Valley Police Promotions

Sergeant Brian Holmes and Corporal David Clark of the Moreno Valley Police Department were recently promoted by Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff.

Holmes has been assigned to the Moreno Valley Police Station for nearly 20 years in various capacities, including the Special Enforcement Unit and as a Patrol Sergeant. Holmes was promoted to lieutenant.

He will be assigned to the Southwest Detention Center.

Clark, who most recently been assigned to the Department’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team, was promoted to sergeant.

Clark will be assigned to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.
