The Education Foundation of Indian River County would like to thank Philanthropist, Ann Tharpe, for funding the “Epic Academic Achievement Grants.” A generous gift of $12,435.00 provided 3 schools the opportunity to recognize and reward students for academic and behavioral success.
Sebastian River Middle School, Rosewood Magnet and Vero Beach Elementary School rewarded students with a trips to see the Blue Man Group in the month of February at Universal Studios.
Through a special partnership with Universal Studios, school field trips are offered with the purpose of engaging and motivating students through an unforgettable stage event that combined theatre, music, art, science and technology. Paint drumming, optical illusions and inspiring musical instruments were part of the experience for 127 students.
Vero Beach Elementary Principal Cindy Emerson shared, “80 readers, who are now leaders, were rewarded for reading over 30 million words this school year! This opportunity inspired 2

th
grade students to increase their reading skills and comprehension achievement.”
The Education Foundation, with the support of donors, works to support the priorities of the School District of Indian River County’s strategic plan.
