Hundreds Visit New Mall Branch Library During Reading Festival
Hundreds of children, parents, and educators visited the new Moreno Valley Public Library Mall Branch as part of t he Moreno Valley Unified School District Reading Festival at the mall on February 24.

A steady stream of children came in to the library to read books to an audience of classmates, parents, teachers, and library patrons. Author James Harris also stopped by to read several stories. More than 100 crafts were given out to children, and many visitors took the opportunity to sign up for library cards or check out books.

Moreno Valley Police Sergeant Graduates From Leadership Institute
Moreno Valley Police Sgt. William Stens graduated from the Sherman Block Supervisor Leadership Institute following an eight month intensive leadership program.

The Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SBSLI) is a program designed to stimulate personal growth, leadership, and ethical decision-making in California law enforcement front-line supervisors.

Designed and implemented in 1988 through the efforts of California law enforcement professionals and top educators and trainers, the SBSLI is an intense program based on experiential learning techniques. Students are challenged to learn new ways to resolve issues through group and individual work.

The curriculum takes students through an analysis of management (planning, organizing, directing, etc.) and leadership (inspiring, challenging, developing, etc.) and how each discipline compliments the other. The course progresses from self-evaluation, to interpersonal evaluation, to organizational relationships.

Congratulations Sgt. Stens!
Transportation Management Center to Ease Traffic Delays
Substantial traffic delays are expected over the next several months along Perris Boulevard between Elder and Ironwood Avenue while Eastern Municipal Water District works to relocate a booster station.

The next phase of construction is expected to begin March 5 to install a 30-inch waterline along Perris Boulevard. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of summer.

Drivers are being encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Staff in the City’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) will actively manage the construction zone to minimize delays. The contractor will maintain access to existing businesses at all times.

The City appreciates your patience while EMWD completes this necessary project. Please contact the Land Development Division at 951.413.3120 with any questions about this project.
