Children's Musical

The spring musical is a highlight of the year for many families in our community. Children do not have to be members of our church to participate. Our doors are open to all children to come and be a part of presenting this wonderful musical!
Each year our Children's Musical is a full scale production with lights, choreography, drama, and lots of special effects! The musical provides opportunities for many children to have special parts. Kids can try out for solos, speaking parts or to be part of a choreography group. Only kids in Grades 2-5 are eligible to try out for a part, but everyone who participates will get to be part of the choir!
 
Here are some important dates concerning the musical:
  • Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, January 16, and continue each Wednesday through March 17. Wednesday night rehearsals are held from 6:30-7:30 PM on the Mt Laurel Campus during Double Oak University.
  • Auditions for solos, speaking parts and choreography groups (for kids in Grades 2-5) are Wednesday, January 30, 5:00-6:30 PM.
  • Dress Rehearsal is Saturday, March 16, 10-12 noon.
  • The musical will be presented on Sunday evening, March 17, 6:00 PM.
Clear your Wednesday nights, and bring your kids to be a part of this great experience!
Bible Skills Project

It's time to get back to work on Bible Skills!  There are posters on the 2nd floor hallway where you can see the progress your child is making.  Check on it together, and see if there is something you can work on this week!  Awards will be given on Sunday evening, April 28nd.  It will be here before you know it!  The next "Check Off" Sunday is January 13th.

Double Oak's "Bible Skills Project" is for kids in Grades 1-5.  It is designed to give parents tools to help their child learn how to use the Bible, and to help teach them what the Bible is all about. There are specific goals for each grade, and prizes will be given at the end of the school year to those kids who have completed their goals.  Kids will work on the goals in Community Groups, on Wednesday nights, and at home.
Goals will include learning the books of the Bible, how to locate books, chapters and verses, and learning how the Bible is organized.  The Bible is our richest treasure of all.  It is God's instruction book for our lives.  Let's help our kids discover how to use this great gift! A BIG Sunday is Coming to the Mt Laurel Campus!

We have a BIG Sunday planned for your kids!  On Sunday, January 27th we will have a Sunday that your kids will remember for years to come!  This Sunday will be different.  It will be BIG.  It will involve t-shirts, balloons and cream pies.  It will be noisy and messy.  Your kids will love it!  With our Host, Matt Allen and the World's Greatest House Band, we will stage a Game Show where kids compete in real games and learn real Scriptures that relate to real life!  During their Community Group hour, kids will be the contestants in the Game Show.  During their Kids Worship hour, kids will be the studio audience in the Game Show.  Kids that are there both hours will get to experience both aspects of this exciting Game Show.

Each Grade will have a different colored t-shirt, and can be ordered by this link.  T-shirts are $5 each.  Kids can pick up their t-shirt on Sunday, January 13th or 20th so that they can wear them on the BIG Sunday, January 27th.
