No Sunday School This Sunday

As we begin this new year, children are encouraged to worship and celebrate Communion together with their families this Sunday.  Pastor Osy will be available to review the sacrament at 9:40 a.m. if you think you son or daughter will benefit from some instruction.

Sunday School will resume at its regular time next Sunday, January 13.  Sunday School is continuing to build off the success they have seen in 2018.  We have open registration throughout the year and would love for your child to be a part of the Sunday School program.

Happy to Announce

Over the holidays we received several additional donations, a memorial gift and the final amount of the balance as a gift from Point Beach Prep for the Sanctuary heat.  We have officially raised the entire $8,800 needed for the new Sanctuary furnaces and no money will be needed from the Emergency fund. We are grateful for God's provision to us through so many of you!
Interfaith Hospitality Network IHN Logo with heart

Families from the Interfaith Hospitality Network will be staying with us in the new year. Families will arrive on Sunday, January 20th and stay for the week. We are in need of people to help in all areas. Sign up sheets are in the Narthex for those who can provide help with Meals (which can be store bought), Set-up, Evening Fellowship and Overnight Host. Please indicate where you can help. Thank you

Hospitality Bread Team

Our church is pleased to welcome visitors at the Sunday Service.  To let them know that they are special to us and that we are interested in them, the Hospitality Bread Team hangs a loaf of bread (either homemade or store bought) and a brochure about our church on the visitor's front door. What a welcome surprise to find a caring gift at one's door.  If you would like to become a part of this committee and "spread the word" by delivering bread on a rotating basis, please contact either the church office or Karen Norby at 732-295-8174.

Facebook Users

You can easily help PPPC promote its activities and mission. First, if you haven't done so already, "Like"  PPPC Facebook page. Then when you see something in your news feed that interests you or that you'd like others to see, react to it in some way by either liking or loving the post. Or better yet, especially if it's an event PPPC is hosting, "Share" the event to your own Facebook page! That automatically lets your friends know what is happening at PPPC and hopefully will encourage them to attend and invite others. Please also consider giving us a review and let others know what you like about us.

With 199 people liking our page we are looking to increase our followers to well over 200 people this next year.  Events and other posts that are shared spread exponentially through the community.

Bonefish Grill is committed to partnering with local charities to help create a better community that gives back.  These restaurant fundraisers that are scheduled throughout the year are enjoyed by many.

Thirty-One Demonstration

Margie Meklin is hosting a the Thirty-One Fundraising Demonstration on
Sunday January 20 at 12:00 p.m. here at the church.

Monies raised will also benefit the church general fund.    Thirty-One Gifts offers purses, wallets, totes, accessories, home décor and organizing solutions, thermal bags, jewelry and more, most of which can be personalized. For those who are unable to attend, you can also place an order with Margie. Catalogs and order forms are available in the office, Fellowship Room or from Margie.  Their January specials can be found online.
These Days Devotional

These Days Devotional Booklets for January through March are now available in the Narthex. The price of the These Days is $6. We all have our hopes and expectations for the year that is ahead of us.  What better way to begin the New Year than seeking  guidance, wisdom and encouragement each day.
Attendance Pads/Ritual of Friendship

Because your presence matters, let us know you are here by signing the Attendance Pads (our worshiping fellowship) found in the pews and in the choir room.  Please fill it out, pass it along your pew, and pass it back during worship. We hope this will help everyone keep in touch and meet new friends.  Be sure to include all family members present.   Please write clearly and include all information. For members, let us know if your contact information has changed. If you are visiting: Welcome! Let us know if you'd like us to contact you by checking the appropriate box.

2019 Offering Envelopes

Please make sure you take your 2019 offering envelope in the Narthex.  Please feel free to pick up a friend's box if you know they won't make it to church to pick it up.  Also, if you do not find a box and wish to receive one, write your name on the pad or contact Donna in the office at [email protected].

Using your numbered envelopes makes the counters' jobs easier and ensures proper contribution credit.  Please note, your assigned envelope number may have changed.
New Beginning's Assessment

The next three months will find leaders of our congregation engaged in a period of Deep Discernment as all the ideas generated in our small group discussions during 2018 will be considered to create a "big-picture" decision about what we believe God is calling us to do and be into the future. Please keep these meeting and this discernment process in your prayers.

Church Organizational Leaders

Information for the Annual Reports is due by Friday, January 11, 2019. A concise overview of last year's highlights will be appreciated. Also, if your organization maintains a separate treasury or bank account, these reports must include a financial reporting. Reports can be emailed directly to Kim Gaydos at [email protected]. Call or email the Church office if you would like a digital version of the 2017 report. Reports will be ready for the congregation on Sunday, January 20, 2019.

Point Beach Prep Weekly Update

Art Educator Karen Norby came this week to do a lesson on line. We learned that there are two types of lines, straight made by man, and curved made by nature. Lines make shapes. We explored curved lines in nature such as shells, leaves and our own bodies.  We explored straight lines made by machines, such as a pencil. The children moved their bodies to create both curved and straight lines in a game of Simon Says. We observed how artist Vincent Van Gogh used curved lines to show movement in his painting "The Starry Night". We saw how artist Piet Mondrian used straight lines, man made or geometric to create his paintings. The students used popsicle sticks to create geometric shapes such as lines, triangles, rectangles and squares. We also used yarn to make happy smiles and other curvy lines.  The children then colored their own Starry Night and Element of Line pictures.  Thank you to Karen Norby for volunteering her time to come in to share her talents with Point Beach Prep!

First Communion Brunch of the Year This Sunday

Take a walk on over to the Annex this Sunday as we begin the New Year together at our Communion Brunch.

With warm weather on Sunday and even warmer company and food, how can you not come!  A free will offering is accepted at the Communion Brunch.  Your donation is more than covering the cost of the brunch, any monies after expenses will support various missions through the year.

In addition we ask that you take a poinsettia home with you after church of Sunday.  They are throughout our buildings and can be taken from anywhere.  We have plenty in the Annex for you to grab on your way out.
