New Discussion Group
Interested in reading classic works of literature and improving your listening, reading, and communication skills at the same time? If so, then consider participating in a discussion group project starting in January at the Dover Public Library. Our first selection will be an excerpt from Mary Shelley's
Frankenstein
- a work popularly associated with Halloween, but which is perhaps more relevant to the cold and dark associated with our winter months. No advance preparation is required for the first session. First meeting will take place on
Sunday, January 6 at 2pm.

Friends of the Library
Cultural Event

Tuesday, January 15 at 7pm
, the Friends of the Dover Public Library will present a talk by author, lecturer, and journalist Dan Szczesny about his newest book, "The White Mountain". Over the course of one calendar year, Szczesny explored the history and mystique of New England's tallest mountain. But Mount Washington is more than just a 6,288-foot rock pile: the mountain is the cultural soul of climbers, hikers, and tourists from around the world looking to test their mettle against its extreme conditions in return for a chance to experience its most intense natural beauty.

NH Historical Road Markers
Join author Michael Bruno on
Sunday, January 20 at 2pm
as he talks about his fascinating journey discovering NH's history through its 255 roadside historical markers. Historical markers commemorate significant events and individuals from the first settlers arriving in 1623 to notable individuals who helped define what New Hampshire is today. Each marker is described with its location (to include GPS coordinates), date installed, marker inscription, and expanded historical references of this event/individual. He will have copies of his book "Cruising New Hampshire History: A Guide to New Hampshire's Historical Roadside Markers" for sale and will be pleased to sign copies.

is another cat castle session. Put those leftover boxes from Christmas to good use for your cat or for a cat at Cocheco Shelter. We have all supplies necessary. This craft involves sharp blades for cutting, so children who participate must be accompanied by an adult.

our knitting group will meet in the Trustees Room. This group is open to anyone who has a love for knitting and crocheting. All levels are welcome!

"Flat Broke with Two Goats" by Jennifer McGaha. New members to one or all are always welcome!

Pizza & Pages
The next meeting will be
Wednesday, January 9 at 6pm
. We encourage kids in grades 7 and up to attend. The group will be very informal with pizza and refreshments being served. Join us to hang out with friends and maybe meet new ones. Tax Help Starts in February
AARP volunteers will again be offering FREE tax preparation assistance at the library starting in February. They will here Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings 9-12. Appointments can be made by calling 2-1-1 later in January. Walk-ins are also welcome.
