BHA Board Encourages Voters to Approve Bond

At its regular April meeting, Bald Head Association's Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse the Village of BHI's proposed bond currently put before voters for the May 8th primary election. In short, Board members believe that it is in the best interest of the Island as a whole for voters to approve the bond.

Insurance Rates Negotiated for
NC Homeowners

The NC Department of Insurance announced this week that it has negotiated a statewide average increase of 4.8% for homeowners insurance, ending a dispute with the NC Rate Bureau which had requested a statewide average 18% increase in February. For coastal communities, including Brunswick County, the increase is 5.5% rather than the 25% previously requested. The new rates are effective October 1st.

COMMUNITY NEWS/EVENTS
BHI Warrior Weekend Begins
April 19th - 23rd

Each year, BHI welcomes five purple heart recipients and their families to enjoy a restful, no-cost weekend in recognition of their service to our country. The warriors and their families arrived on Thursday and will depart BHI on Monday.

It's not too late to contribute to the weekend's activities for participants.  Checks made payable to 'Halo for Freedom' can be dropped off (111 Lighthouse Wynd) or mailed (PO Box 3030, BHI, NC 28461) to BHA. Make sure to write 'BHI Weekend' in the memo. Halo for Freedom is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions may be tax deductible.

And, if you're on the Island, don't forget to raise your American flag in support of our military.

Contact John Fisher at [email protected] for more information.
Unclaimed Property List

The Village of BHI has published a list of unclaimed property that is in the custody of the Village's Public Safety Department. Contact Public Safety at 910-457-5252 to learn how to identify property you may have lost.

Housing needed for Pirates!

What a treat for your children and grandchildren to host a Pirate (or 2 or 3) in your home during Pirate's Weekend. If you would like to adopt a Pirate, please contact Sandy Kades at [email protected]. All they need is a bed, access to a shower and, if possible, a golf cart to get to & from the events. If you don't have an extra golf cart, organizers can work something out.

Also, thank you to all who attended the BHI Pirate Invasion fundraiser party for BVI Recovery on April 5. Bald Head Island Pirate Invasion and BVI appreciate your support.  If you have not yet made a donation to BVI Community Support Appeal, the site is still open and can be accessed by CLICKING HERE.
