Dear Saint Rose Families,
Spring is in the air as I write this. Spring has a lot of opportunities for our community. We have the Music Man Jr., taking the stage April 5-7. Spring CYO sports begin. The spring after school enrichment programs begin. T.H.O.L takes place for our middle school students. We have Right to Read Week. Track and Field Week will hopefully be graced by wonderful weather. Talents will be displayed on the stage with the Talent Show and the Spring Concert. Second grade has First Communion coming up and May 8 is May Crowning. Preschool will have performances and graduations. The elementary grades will have Carnival and our 8th grade will graduate with a wonderful commencement. There is a lot going on and I hope that you and your family take full advantage of the many wonderful opportunities coming your way.
Please pray for the success of our 8th Grade Confirmation as our community will gather at the Cathedral this Saturday for this important Sacrament. Mrs. Brahier, Mrs. Russo, Fr. George and Fr. David, our 8th graders, their sponsors and their families have done much to prepare for this day.
Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt

LENT COLLECTION: SHOES, SOCKS, MONEY
As we enter Lent, one of the practices that we emphasize is Almsgiving. We recall Jesus' words to his disciples at the Last Supper. "After Jesus had washed their feet, He said to them: 'Do you understand what I just did for you? If I washed your feet, then you must wash each other's feet. As I have done, so you must do.' "
Saint Louis is located in East Toledo and provides low-income and homeless people with daily meals, clothing, and household goods. Saint Louis Helping Hands is sponsored by the Diocese of Toledo Office of Catholic Charities.
For five years Saint Louis has hosted a Back to School Event in August for children to receive new socks and shoes. During the event, volunteers wash the feet of the children, dry them, and fit them with new socks and shoes.
Saint Rose School will be collecting new shoes, new socks, and money to help provide for this event. The new shoes do not have to be top-of-the-line brand name shoes. Please see the adjacent photo. The organizer of the event sent the photo to show that Walmart often has shoes reasonably priced, and they would be appreciated.
Perhaps your child could do extra chores around the house to help "earn" some of the money that would be used to purchase new shoes or new socks. Shoes and socks are needed for children ages 3 through grade 8 -- a vast array of sizes. Cash donations at school will be used to purchase new shoes.
Thank you for your generosity.

Online Dangers
In the news recently there have been reports of a terrifying image and challenge targeted at children that has been popping up in apps and videos. Some reports have said that this challenge has caused children to harm themselves. These types of instances on the internet are not new, and will probably always be something that we will need to be aware of to protect our children. This is a good reminder of some tips/rules to follow for children using technology both in the classroom and at home.
- Monitor child's device usage
- Don't allow devices in bedrooms and other closed rooms.
- Set restrictions on devices for downloading apps.
- Only allow approved apps.
- If child sees something inappropriate or scary have them close browser or app and tell a parent or trusted adult.
- Never talk to anyone online that you do not know in your personal life
It is important to be covering these topics with your students. Here are some resources for internet safety:
Check on your children often!
Let's do our best to keep them all safe from the dangers lingering online!

Kroger Community Rewards
- Time to print your Rewards Balance
It is time to print your Kroger Community Rewards balance. Please send the print-out to the Saint Rose School office to the attention of Alison Ray-Kobler. Alternatively, you can send a print-out of your earnings to Alison at [email protected]
.
To ensure that we have the most up to date information on file, please also write the name of the St. Rose child/family who should receive the credit for your earnings (if applicable). The only way we are able to assign the Kroger Community Rewards to a specific student account is by having the participants print and submit their Kroger Community Rewards donation amount.
Please note: Kroger recently upgraded their Community Rewards system, and as a result, St. Rose has a new account number - (CN971). Don't worry - the previous number will continue to be associated with St. Rose, but it will not be visible to new members when enrolling. For those existing members, your account may already reflect the new number - CN971. If you have questions, you can reach out to Alison at the email address above.

School Advisory Council
APPLICATION DEADLINE TOMORROW!
Have you been looking for a way to give back to your school? We have a great idea for you: apply to join the
Saint Rose School Advisory Council. We are all parents of current students at Saint Rose, ranging in age from Preschool thru Eighth grade. Some of us have been a part of the school for many years, and others have only been here a shorter time. Together we form a group that meets a few times a year with the pastor and principal to consult and advise on school matters such as long-range planning, public relations, and policy development. We also are a connection point for any parents who have questions, concerns, issues or suggestions that they would like to bring forth to the administration.
If interested, please complete the application linked below and return to the
SACvia email at
[email protected] or to the school office by
Friday, March 15th.
If you have any questions, please reach out to one of us. We'd be happy to tell you more about it.
Thank you!

Here is an opportunity for 7th and 8th grade students to tutor and help younger Saint Rose students with their basic studies.
If your 7th or 8th grader is interested in tutoring, please CLICK HERE to sign up
