As we launch our presidential search, it is important to hear your thoughts about the college’s strengths, the leadership agenda for the new president, and the skill sets, experiences and attributes that would best serve the college in its next chapter.

HLC accreditation evaluation–opportunity to comment
Luther College is seeking comments from the public about the college in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. Luther College will have its next reaffirmation visit March 11, 2019, with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission. Luther College has been accredited by HLC since 1915. The team will review the institution's ongoing ability to meet HLC's Criteria for Accreditation.
The public is invited to submit comments that address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs. Comments may be submitted to the following address:

for the 2018 Phonathon and who knows, you may even get Meryl Streep on the phone! Plus, if you call during the first week, we will treat you to pizza. Phonathon is one of Luther's largest outreach tools. Each fall, students volunteer to raise unrestricted dollars that help offset tuition, add to scholarships, and enhance programming all across campus. Over the years, Phonathon collectively has raised millions of dollars.

Phoebe Jan-McMahon
strives to create a place for viewers to escape the hustle of life with her work. Her exhibit, "The Adjacent" will be on display through October 27 in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts. Her exhibit explores spaces and objects in her apartment. Her works delve into the quietness of "the adjacent," a place to escape and heal from the brutality of everyday life.

Join Norse Against Sexual Assault
(NASA) for our first meeting of the year this Sunday, September 16 at 7 p.m. in the Dahl Centennial Union, Mott Room. A self-care activity will be included! NASA is a collaborative student organization that aims to raise awareness about sexual violence, educate members of the community, build a campus culture that is intolerant to all forms of sexual violence, and stand in solidarity to support survivors. ALL ARE WELCOME.

Last week, the New York Times published an anonymous Op Ed by someone claiming to be high up in the Administration, criticizing the President, and claiming the existence of an underground “resistance” within the government. Is it ethical to make such claims anonymously? What other choices did this person have? Join Prof. Mike Engelhardt and the CEPE for a discussion on the ethics of governmental whistle-blowing and opposition. Wednesday, 9/12, 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Olin 102.

If you decide to drop applied lessons the following schedule will be used to compute the charge for fall 2018: Dropping lessons: by September 9 - $46 charge; by September 16 - $92 charge; by September 25 - $138 charge; after September 25 - Full charge/$510.
This schedule will be followed with no exceptions.
