This month, CSDS features BLUES! No stranger to CSDS and dancing in Central VA, we welcome back Alyssa Arter of PA to be our lesson instructor and DJ on Saturday, March 17th, at
Ivy Creek United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Alyssa has been dancing since the age of 4 and began teaching at age 13; she teaches Lindy Hop, Charleston, East Coast Swing, Balboa, West Coast Swing and of course, Blues!
ADMISSION:
- $10 for CSDS Members

SHOE & TELL:
Adela & Tammy are hosting their second Shoe + Tell after Announcements! They will not be selling shoes but will have a variety of mens and womens shoes for you to look at and learn about. Experienced Dancers, if you have shoes you're no longer wearing, please consider donating them and bring them to the March dance, thank you!
FOOTWEAR: please wear either dance shoes or light-colored soles; whatever you wear must be non-marking!

As parking is limited, we encourage you to carpool to our dance. In the event of inclement weather, a decision will be made by 2 pm and we will post on our public

Board of Directions Election
March is CSDS' annual membership meeting and Board of Directors election.
During the break, we'll hold our annual Board of Directors election for the 2018-2019 term. If you'd like to nominate someone (including yourself!), please contact
Lisa Morales
who, along with John Robertson, once again comprise our Nominating Committee. You can read our public bylaws here. The vote may be
held by acclamation if all nominations are uncontested, or by ballot if any nominations are contested. Thank you to our current Board of Directors, along with our trusty stable of "Helpers," for their past year(s) of service:

The term of the newly elected Directors will begin on April 1st, 2018 with officers being selected at the new Board's first meeting in April.
Why should I consider being on the CSDS Board, you might ask?! Well, there are some great reasons: it's fun/social, it's a great way to deepen the friendships with others on the board and it's a great way to give back to your dance community.
Most importantly though, it's necessary for CSDS to exist!
And, the Directors are joined by a group of "Helpers" which makes for less work all around. So we hope you'll think about taking a turn to serve CSDS and your local dance community and consider being on the Board :-)

Many C-ville/Central VA Westies are headed to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore for
MADjam
, March 1st-4th! MADjam is the largest West Coast Swing dance event on the East Coast! Three CSDS members have an active role at MADjam this year: Alyssa Gillespie is running the All Star/Newcomer Q&A Session, Katie Bigelow is holding two Resilient Westies workshops (
Elements of Efficiency in Movement,
Creating a Dynamic Warm-Up) and Tammy Davis is the Newcomer Program Assistant! Go ladies!!
We also look forward to seeing former C'ville residents (but forever C-ville Westies!) Viko and Allison who now live in Boulder:

Kristin's Group Dance Classes

Kristin Wenger's new session of
group classes starts Tuesday, March 6th! The sessions are 6-weeks long with West Coast Swing Level 2 from 6-7:30 pm and West Coast Swing Musicality (must know basics) from 7:30-9 pm. Classes are held at the
Murray High School gym, where CSDS'
Swing Swap (free!) also takes place on Thursday nights. You can register online
