How Does Your Garden Grow?
Children, children, ELC children,
How does your garden grow?
With helping hands, and sunny skies
And teachers all in a row!

The Garden Committee, along with the PS and PK classrooms, have recently completed preparing their vegetable garden. The garden plots have been fenced, soil turned and fertilized and starter pots planted. Watering the plants took extra effort with the children working together to fill their buckets with water and walking them to the garden. The Garden Committee has shared that there are cabbage, kale, broccoli and radish plants; now it's time for the classrooms to select which plots they will tend this season!

Recently I spoke with one Garden Committee member and she shared that even though it was a lot of work to start the garden, the social, emotional and physical benefits for the children were more than worth it!

We will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week April 30th - May 4th. Look for details to come in a separate email!
Visit Capriotti's Tuesday, May 1st!
Everyone has to eat...and what better way to eat than while supporting the ELC! We are working with Capriotti's on Main St. in Newark, to raise money for our Outdoor Environment redesign project.

Are you wondering how YOU can help? Read the 3 easy steps below.

Step 1: Click on the link to RSVP.
(This is not a commitment, but will give Capriotti's an approximate number of ELC family members to expect. We need at least 28 people to RSVP to show support!)

Step 2: Visit...
Capriotti's Sandwich Shop
230 E Main St. Suite 241 Newark, DE
Tuesday, May 1st
Between 11:30 am and 8 pm

Step 3: Mention you are with the ELC when placing your order.
(Orders have to be in store)

  It's that easy...see you at Capriotti's May 1st!

For added fun, your child will receive 4 Tickets in their cubby on Friday, April 27th. You will write your child's name on the line provided and hand them out to friends and family over the weekend. Then, on May 1st anyone who visits Capriotti's with your child's ticket can put it in the box for a prize drawing on Wednesday, May 2, 2018!

When placing your order let them know you are with the ELC!

WHAT IS PROJECT ACES?

Each May, on a designated date and time, millions of school children all over the globe will exercise simultaneously in a symbolic gesture of fitness and unity to show the world that they do not fit into that negative stereotype of being "physically unfit". This non-competitive program has proven to be educational, motivational, and fun. When Len Saunders created Project ACES back in 1989, he had no idea that it would reach the magnitude and success of today. Starting its 30th year, Project ACES has reached millions of children, parents and teachers all over the world, including participants from over 50 countries.

Infant and Toddler Event from 10-11 am

Preschool/Prek Event from 10-11:30 am

Parents are invited...look for details from your child's teacher!

Week of the Young Child and Art Show Recap

Our week highlighting the field of early education has ended, but our commitment to providing the highest quality care is always moving forward. Please enjoy a few photos from the week.
You make a difference!
THANK YOU to the Art Show Committee for such a well organized and beautiful display of the children's art this year. Also, THANK YOU to the entire staff for all you do to support children's development of their artistic self!
Because of your donations, the United Way of Delaware was able to get books into the hands of young children in our community who may not have the resources available to them to support literacy development. Also, the Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. was able to make 50 survival bags to give to homeless individuals in the Delaware community!

Every donation makes a difference!
