Notice of Public Meeting re: Memorial Drive Reconstruction from East of Beltway 8 to East of Tallowood Drive, CSJ 0912-72-391
 
The Memorial City Redevelopment Authority, also known as TIRZ 17 ("MCRA"), in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation ("TxDOT") Houston District, will hold a public meeting regarding the proposed roadway reconstruction of Memorial Drive from East of Beltway 8 to East of Tallowood Drive in the City of Houston, Harris County, Texas. The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Frostwood Elementary School, 12214 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024. The meeting will be held in an open house format from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. No formal presentation will be made.

The purpose of the public meeting is to afford the public an opportunity to review and provide comments on the proposed project. MCRA is sponsoring the reconstruction of Memorial Drive. 

Proposed improvements include: 
  • widening the street to four 11-foot travel lanes with a concrete median
  • providing median openings for access
  • installing an 8-foot wide ADA compliant sidewalk
  • upgrading aging subsurface public utilities
  • installing oversized reinforced concrete boxes to provide inline detention to reduce overland flows
  • upgrading existing traffic signals
  • installing street lighting and landscaping amenities to promote a pedestrian friendly environment
Maps showing the proposed location of the project and design drawings will be available for review at the public meeting. This information will also be available for review by appointment Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding state holidays, at the TxDOT Houston District Office, located at 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston, Texas 77007. All interested persons are invited to attend this public meeting. Written comments must be postmarked or submitted electronically by February 22, 2019. Written comments may be submitted at the meeting or may be submitted either in person or by mail to the TxDOT District Office, Director of Project Development, P.O. Box 1386, Houston, Texas 77251, or submitted electronically at [email protected].
 
Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to contact TxDOT's Public Information Office at (713) 802-5076. Requests should be made at least five days prior to the public meeting. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014.
