Christ Covenant School is a community that loves, educates, and equips our students to transform the world for Jesus Christ.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Straight from the Head
Robert Lee Head of School

"So what's the deal with snow days?" If you are new to the school or to Eastern North Carolina, you most likely heard, thought, or asked that question lately.

"It's complicated," we might reply.  The most simple answer is that our school almost always follows suit with Pitt County Schools on weather closings.  We serve a similar geographic footprint and have access to the same information.

However, there are occasions when we will be slightly less conservative with inclement weather forecast and make exception to their calls.  We may stay open with the understanding that parent drivers can opt or not opt to make the commute based on their individual situations.

When we do stay open with a trace or the threat of inclement weather, I always encourage parents to make the decision that best suits their safety and remind teachers to have grace in not counting missed work against students.

Our alert system notifies parents by text messaging (make sure we have your cell number in RenWeb and that your preferences are set to allow text messaging), and we place  announcements on WITN, WNCT and WCTI as well as RenWeb announcements and our school website usually right after Pitt County makes their decision.  Ultimately, our decision is driven by the safety of our students and teachers with the understanding that erring on the side of caution is the best policy.

I want to thank you for your patience and understanding when these complications in weather affect our normal schedule.  We love school and we love to be here, but there are times as Job 37:6-7 says, when

"He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth.'; Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.  He stops the hand of every man, that all men may know His work."

May we always have eyes to see what He is doing.

Re-Enrollment News

Early next week, families will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to register through RenWeb for online priority re-enrollment.  This information will be e-mailed and will appear in the next several published newsletters.  You will need to login to a desktop computer to accomplish re-enrollment as the mobile phone app does not support this function at this time.  If you have questions or are having difficulties logging in, please contact Cindy Suter, [email protected]

Re-enrollment Fees.
  1. A graduated fee schedule for the re-enrollment period will apply as follows:
  • Re-enrollments completed by *2/28/2018:   $350
*Your spot for next year is guaranteed if you enroll by 2/28/2018 (see note 1 below)
  • Re-enrollments completed by 3/31/2018:   $450 (see note 1 below)
  • Re-enrollments after April 1:  $550

Note:  The newsletter dated Jan. 19, 2018 incorrectly stated the 2nd re-enrollment period as ending on 5/31 instead of 3/31.  This was corrected in the next newsletter.  Additionally, all re-enrollment instructions sent to parents had the correct (e-mail re-enrollment instructions, RenWeb online re-enrollment documentation and RenWeb announcements)

In the near future, your child will be receiving instructions regarding our annual poetry recital.

Each year our student in grades Kindergarten through 12 chooses and commits a poem to memory. After weeks of practice, students will publicly recite their poem it in front of a small audience of peers and family during poetry recital week.

This year, poetry recital week is scheduled for March 19 - 23.

It is important that parents remember that students are required to wear their formal dress uniform on their day to recite their poem.  If you are unfamiliar with our formal dress code policy, refer to page 22 of our Family Handbook.

Box Tops Bake Sale
The Box Top Committee will be hosting a bake sale during lunch on Wednesday, January 31st

We need your help in two ways:
  1.  Please start saving your box tops for the day of the bake sale. The box tops will be used to purchase bake sale items and will be collected during the sale. Each student that submits any quantity of box tops will be eligible to receive two bake sale items.  Please remember to separate box tops in amounts of 50 (if submitting more than 50) in small snack size ziplock bags and include a slip of paper with students name, teacher name, and amount of box tops in that bag.  All box tops submitted during the bake sale will count towards raffle drawing to be held in December.  Each student will receive one entry into the raffle for every 50 box tops they turn in.

  2. Sign up at this link to bring a baked good:
We need help providing goodies for the sale. Based on the success of our previous bake sale, we are requesting the following donated baked goods.

Please do not include any type of nuts.
            Chocolate chip and sugar cookies
            Brownies
            Candied popcorn
            Cupcakes

In addition to the items above, we are in need of a parent to be in charge of coordinating allergy friendly items for the day of the sale.   If you are interested in being the coordinator for allergy friendly items, please contact Leslie Mayberry ([email protected]) or Wanda Majette ([email protected])
.

Please feel free to email Leslie Mayberry ([email protected]) or Wanda Majette ([email protected]) with any questions.

Thank you for your support of box tops and CCS!
