Sometimes we get it all wrong. We think the more we have, the more we amass, the more power, money, and fame we accumulate, the happier we are. The kingdom of God runs on a different currency, and we sometimes need to have our minds renewed to see what God is actually doing in our midst.

Over the past year our school has prioritized outreach and service, and I see our students beginning to "get it" when they are given the opportunity to give and serve others. Several such opportunities are coming up, and I wanted to give you the information so you, too, can share in this joy of giving away.

The first is the upcoming blood drive organized by the students in the National Honor Society at Christ Covenant. You may have seen them bouncing around the parking lot with flyers or dressing up like platelets in chapel, but they are very serious about this opportunity to save lives. A link has been set up on Facebook and at the Red Cross website where you can sign up to give blood on April 28th at the upper school campus. Please support this effort by giving the gift of life.

Another upcoming opportunity to give will be the National Day of Prayer on May 3rd. Christ Covenant School will be hosting a special prayer service at our lower school at 8:00 in the morning for students and families, and you are welcome to attend. We are also spearheading the event at the Pitt County Courthouse on the same day, Thursday, May 3rd at noon. Both of these events highlight our call to be a community that transforms the world for Jesus Christ, beginning with prayer. Please come out to join either of these services.

We are also are excited to have families in our school who understand the value of giving and sowing back into the next generation. Basil's restaurant will be hosting another day to give back a significant part of their proceeds to the school from all sales on Monday, April 30th. Come out, have pizza, or order in that night to support the school.

We cannot underestimate how giving through the blood drive, through praying together, or just by spending a night in fellowship with others can help to grow the kingdom. Whatever we choose to do, our prayer is that our students and families learn the words of the Lord Jesus that Paul repeated in his farewell in Ephesus in Acts 20:35, "I have shown you in every way by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said,

"It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Field Day - Lower School

It's time for Field Day; here's the scoop:

This year, Field Day is a 1/2 day event.  This is a 1/2 day of school for both Upper and Lower Schools with release at 11:45.

Field Day is a very active day for the kids.  Lower School students in grades K through 6 are divided into 9 teams and will compete in various physical events.  While our new Junior Kindergarten classes won't participate in the official field day events with the older kids, we have an exciting day planned for them. The K-6 field day event will conclude with an awards ceremony.
  • Field Day will be held on Friday, May 18.
  • Students shall wear a t-shirt in the color of their assigned team with pe shorts, shoes and socks.
  • Team colors: Click here for the list students with their assigned team/color.   Click here if you'd like to place an order for a sale priced CCS logo t-shirt in your child's team color.  In order to guarantee delivery by field day, the deadline for t-shirt orders is Friday April 27.  As an added bonus, we've reduced the price of our short sleeve logo t-shirts to $11.
  •  Volunteers:  Field Day has grown into the most loved Lower School event, requiring many parent volunteers.    Links for volunteer sign ups will be provided soon but please consider reserving this date on your calendar to volunteer and join in on the fun.
If you have any questions please contact our lower school PE teacher Mr. Ange; [email protected]

Monday Night - April 23 Zaxby's Fellowship/Fundraisers!

As an added bonus, Zaxby's offers $.99 kids meals (3 max with the purchase of 1 adult meal)!

Community Support
As a part of senior Laney Rivera's senior pinnacle project and her ongoing efforts to facilitate community support opportunities, we're excited to promote this month's event to support the group Young Lives.   Young Lives is a subgroup of Young Life to support young mothers in our area.

The event is Tuesday May 8 from 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church. Volunteers will be assisting with childcare (infants - 5 years).  For more information and to sign up, click here
Order for NEW Hot Lunch Day
We've added a hot lunch for TUESDAY, MAY 8.  We'll be serving Basil's Cheese Pizza!  Each student will receive 2 slices.

Due to the January snow day where school and hot-lunch were cancelled, we've added an extra hot lunch day to provide lunch for those pre-paid cancelled lunches.

The students who paid for lunch on the snow day will automatically receive pizza on 5/8.  No further action is needed for these students ( click here to access the list of paid lunches). If your child is not on the list and would like pizza on May 8, please log on to RenWeb to place your order.

We still need a few more volunteers to help with pick up on Tuesday, May 8.

Athletic Fundraiser!!! - Monday, April 30th...keep it on your radar
Why not plan a meal at Basil's (either lunch or dinner) on Monday, April 30th to support Spartan Athletics.  We have the potential of this to be a very nice fundraiser just for showing up and having a nice meal at a local restarant.

Christ Covenant parents and owners, Jeremy and Jennifer Spengeman, been kind enough to donate 10% of the daily proceeds to Spartan Athletics for all business at Basil's on Monday, April 30th!  What could be easier?  If you are a business owner, why not consider placing a lunch order for your employees?  Basil's will gladly take your order and efficiently have it ready at your specified pick up time.
