Assisting local Chinese Children's Welfare Institutes by providing pre and post-surgical care to abandoned Chinese orphan babies born with surgically correctable deformities. Shanghai Healing Home provides a home-like environment that meets not only the babies' physical needs but also their emotional and developmental needs .

The Shanghai Healing Home is funded 100% by the generous donations of our sponsors and one-time donors. We are very grateful to accept monetary or in-kind donations of any amount and form. A list of in-kind needs can be found on our website. Below are suggested sponsorship plans if you or a group of your friends would like to fully sponsor the cost of one baby's daily expenses.

How Can I Help?

Many people are asking us lately, "what can I do to help?". Right now, SHH is in need of new Baby Sponsorships. To date, we have a total of 18 fully sponsored babies, 3 partially sponsored, and another 8 needing sponsorship. Baby sponsorships are a huge part of being able to pay the monthly expenses and care for the children. Even before we can pay for their medical needs and surgeries, we need to be able to pay for their daily needs in the home.

最近有很多人问我们，"我能帮到你们什么？"而现在，上海医治之家的宝贝们非常需要大家的帮助。目前为止，我们有 18个全额赞助的孩子，3个部分资助的孩子，还有8个孩子需要大家资助。在这个资助中，有很大一部分是给孩子提供每个月需要的费用和关怀。所以在我们支付孩子的医疗费用之前，我们需先提供给孩子日常用品。

Learning and Physical Therapy Center Updates

Thank you to everyone who came out on October 14th to celebrate the opening of our new Learning and Therapy Center! The weather was beautiful allowing us to enjoy a fun time with food, carnival games, live music and performances, and a bouncy house! Update on Hua YZ

Hua YZ 的近况

Our little miracle baby, Hua YZ, continues to be a miracle. Since coming Home from the hospital in July he has been doing well and not had to be readmitted. He has started to be pretty active...always kicking his little legs to make his bed rock or making silly faces and sounds at his caregiver. Recently, he has been a little sick and had to go to the doctor but fortunately we have been able to treat the problem at Home. If he continues to do well and gains a little more weight then the doctors plan to do another surgery so he won't need the colostomy bag. We would appreciate your continued prayers for our little Hua YZ!

我们的小奇迹宝贝Hua YZ依然是一个奇迹。自从七月份回到医院回家以来，他一直做得很好，适应得很顺利。他已经开始相当活跃了...总是踢他的小腿，在他的床上摇滚，或在对他的照顾者做出搞笑的面孔和声音。最近，他有点生病，不得不去看医生，幸好我们已经能够在家看病了。如果他能维持正常，体重增加一点，那么医生打算再做一次手术，所以他不需要结肠袋。我们非常感恩你们继续为我们的小Hua YZ祈祷！

Urgent Medical Need

We recently found out that to help correct our little Liang XY's club feet before he has surgery he is going to need to have casts put on his legs every week for 8 weeks. Each time they cast his legs it will cost 3,000 RMB (approximately $452 USD). Please consider helping us with this medical expense and contact Aaron at [email protected] for more information.

Dang TL is 2 1/2 years old, and has Down syndrome. He has made unbelievable progress since coming to Shanghai Healing Home. He has learned to crawl, sit and stand on his own, and he is now working on being able to walk on his own. Dang TL is very smart, and can imitate others. He is able to say a few simple words in English like "bye-bye" and "mama". He loves to give hugs and blow kisses. Dang TL is a great eater, and is growing well. Think you might be his Forever Family? We are so excited that our little Liang HY has found his Forever Family but we are sure going to miss hearing him greet everyone with a "hey!"

Medical Need

We found out that our little Shang XR's hearing is not good. The doctors have told us he needs hearing aids so we are starting to raise the money for them now. The hearing aids will cost 40,000 RMB (approximately $6020 USD). We raised about a fourth of this after last month's newsletter so we are still needing around 30,000 RMB (approximately $4524 USD). Volunteer Highlight

志愿活动

In October, we had the privilege of having a dentist and his assistant visit the Home. While he was here he provided free dental screenings, fluoride treatments, and dental work for the older children and caregivers. He also spent some time teaching the caregivers about oral health. We are so thankful for these volunteers who were willing to use their professional skills to help the Home.

Preschool Corner

Our first month in our new Learning and Therapy Center has been so great for our preschool kids. This month they learned about body parts and the five senses as well as continuing to practice shapes and colors. One of their favorite preschool centers is dress up clothes. They all love dressing up in different role-play costumes and playing pretend!

我们新的学习&理疗中心的第一个月，对于我们的学龄前儿童来说非常棒。这个月他们了解身体部位和五种感官，并且继续练习形状和颜色。他们最喜欢的学前班中心的是服饰装扮。他们都喜欢穿着不同的角色扮演服装，然后假装自己就是他们！

Volunteer Policies

志愿者原则

First of all, we want to say "thank you" to all of our volunteers who come out on a regular basis to help our babies. You all are so important to the work that we are doing at SHH.

首先，我们想对我们所有来帮助宝宝们的志愿者说一声"感谢"。你们每个人对于我们正在上海医治之家所做的工作都十分重要！

Second we want to remind all volunteers about some of our volunteer policies and let you know about some changes we are making to some of the policies.

其次，我们也想通知所有的志愿者们，关于我们志愿者政策的一些变动，希望你们能及时了解！

1. All volunteers visiting the Home must bring their volunteer badge every time you visit ; however, you do not need to wear them inside the playrooms where the babies may chew on them or tear them up. Volunteers who do not present with a badge will not be allowed to come into the Home. If you have been to an orientation meeting and need a volunteer badge made then please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Jessica, at [email protected]

to request to have a badge made before your next visit.所有志愿者拜访必须每次都配带志愿者铭牌；但是，你不需要在游戏室佩戴，因为孩子们可能咀嚼或撕碎他们。不带徽章的志愿者不允许进入医治之家。如果你参加了介绍会并需要志愿者铭牌，请联系志愿者协调员 Jessica ，可以发送邮件至 [email protected] 在你下次拜访之前索要志愿者铭牌！

2. All visitors must have attended an orientation meeting and be able to follow the rules for volunteers. Visitors who do not meet these requirements will be asked to not visit the Home until all requirements are met.

所有来访者都必须参加一个介绍会，并遵守志愿者的规则。不符合这些要求的访客将被暂时要求不能进入医治之家，直到满足所有要求。

3. Minimum age for volunteers is 10 years old. Visitors that are 5-9 years old must be accompanied by a parent and must remain with their parent during the whole visit. Visitors under the age of 5 are not permitted in the Home. 志愿者最小年龄限制为10岁。5-9岁的来访者必须由家长陪同，必须保持与父母在整个访问期间都在一起。5岁以下的访客不允许进入。

4. Maximum number of visitors allowed in the Home at the same time is 20 people. 一次性来访人数最多为20人。
