Weekly e-Epistle
from
St. James' Mill Creek
Wilmington, Delaware
August 30th 2020

We'd love for you to join us!

We would be pleased if you joined us online and from the comfort of your home for church services via Facebook Live at 9:30am.

Here is a PDF of this Sunday's bulletin for you to enjoy.
To members of St. James:

You may have noticed the new carpet in church. It is thanks to the generous gifts of Jim Craig and Kathy Kwiatkowski. In order to lay that carpet, Bob August, his brother, Ron and Bob's daughters, Hayley and Kaitlyn, removed all the pews, fixed broken ones and painted them where needed. Then they put them all back in time for Jim and Kathy's son's wedding.

Thanks to them all, we have a spruced up sanctuary.

Sincerely, Sue Strecker
From Margaret Russ:

Russ's Angels will be walking to END Alzheimer's in 2020. It will be our 10th year.
As you can imagine we are unable to host our Annual Fundraiser event.
St. James has been a great support over the years, I want to give you the chance to help again this year.

Sorry you will not be getting Flap Jacks in return.

If you can donate there are two ways to do it.
  1.  Use the link to my page http://act.alz.org/goto/margaretruss
  2.  Or you can mail me a check, written to Alzheimer's Association

Please feel free to reach out to me, Margaret Russ.

A Prayer for Peace Among the Nations

Almighty God our heavenly Father, guide the nations of the world into the way of justice and truth, and establish among them that peace which is the fruit of righteousness, that they may become the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Congratulations to Kathy Jackson for completing her Epilepsy 5k Run and Walk!

Kathy Jackson has been the top individual fundraiser for the Epilepsy 5k Run and Walk. She helped raise $7,337, her top record in her 25th year of participation in the walk.

We are all so incredibly proud of her and can't wait for next year!

Note: In last week's e-Epistle it was mistakenly written that it was her 28th year, when it was her 25th.
A note from your Warden

  • Your safety is our top priority
  • No one should feel obligated to attend in person. If you are not comfortable being around others, it is okay to stay at home.
  • On-line services will continue to be available through Facebook Live.
  • We will do our best to make it smooth, but there may be some kinks at first. We appreciate your patience when this process starts.

From Cynde Bimbi:

Led by the United Way of Delaware and YWCA Delaware, the challenge is a state-wide journey (never leaving our homes) into the history of racism here at home in Delaware. The Episcopal Church in Delaware is a partner (a “challenge champion”) in this effort. A personal commitment of time (5-30 minutes a day for three weeks), an internet connection, and openness to learning are all that are required. Read more here.

From Bruce Vrana:

You are invited to a virtual coffee hour following worship at St. James’ Mill Creek, beginning approximately 15 minutes after service concludes. So after service is over, grab a beverage or snack and connect to your church family. All are welcome.
