Township Food Pantry Needs
The Township food pantry serves our most vulnerable residents. It is funded entirely by donations. Currently, the food pantry is in need of juice, shelf stable milk, paper towels and toilet paper.

College of Lake County Hosts Regional College Fair
How can high school students and their parents learn about nearly 175 colleges and universities in just one location? The Illinois Regional College Fair, hosted by the College of Lake County from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, is a great place for families to begin or continue the college search process.

Is The State of Illinois Holding Some of Your Money?
The State Treasurer is holding 2.9 billion dollars in unclaimed funds for Illinoisans. The State holds these lost funds until they are claimed by either the original owner or their heirs. Property is returned at no cost with the proper identification.

You're Bound to Love Metra's Added Trains
Metra has partnered with business and civic groups in Lake County to pilot a two-year project for expanded rush hour commuter service on the Milwaukee District North Line.
Beginning March 4, the morning and afternoon train schedule will be improved to accommodate rush hour riders at the western Lake Forest station on Telegraph Road. A new outbound express train will depart Union Station at 6:25 a.m. and arrive in Lake Forest at 7:15 a.m.
In the afternoon, express service will leave the Lake Forest station at 5:09 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. and arrive at Union Station in about 50 minutes or less.
The new train schedule will also benefit residents during the weekday morning rush hour by: 1) adding a new morning inbound train; and, 2) modifying an existing morning inbound train to provide express service. The expanded service will make it easier for local businesses to attract and retain talent and draw from the diverse workforce living in Chicago. Lake County residents will also be able to take advantage of the service to quickly get to Chicago during peak hours. As part of this groundbreaking partnership, stakeholders will also work on a definitive agreement to share the cost of installing a universal crossover near Lake Forest to create additional opportunities for enhanced service.

Report Your Road Concern
Has your time on the roads been a little bumpy lately? Road crews are hoping a break from the snow will allow them to catch up on the recent crop of potholes following the freeze and thaw cycles. If you encounter potholes or any road issue on a county road, you can report your concern to the Lake County Division of Transportation. Bird Watching Hotspots
Each spring, thousands of birds utilize Lake County Forest Preserves to feed, rest and nest. Visit four birding hotspots looking for water fowl, marsh birds and other migratory species. Spotting scopes and binoculars will be available for public use.

Summer Youth Employment Program 2019
Applications for the 2019 Lake County Summer Youth Employment Program are now being accepted through March 31. The program, funded by the Lake County Board, provides meaningful work experiences for participants, who will work at various sites in Lake County, including private employers and nonprofit organizations, local municipalities and community-based organizations. Applicants should be age 14 to 18 (by April 15) or age 14 to 22 with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

RTA Reduced Fare Pass Applications
New Applicants--
Seniors 65 and over may apply for the RTA Pass at Libertyville Township. Taking the train downtown? This will save you money and it is free. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to receive the pass in the mail. Bring in a 2x2 inch photo and your Illinois driver's license.
The RTA Reduced Fare Permit allows older adults, age 65 and older, and qualified people with disabilities and Medicare recipients to ride all RTA fixed-route services (regularly scheduled CTA, Metra and Pace buses or trains in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties) at a reduced fare.
