Dear Saint Rose Families,

Mary Poppins Jr. Takes the Saint Rose stage tomorrow night through the weekend. It has been fun to see the students at rehearsal each day. They have been working hard. Mrs. Schmidt, Mrs. Fahim and Ms. Weiner have done a great job preparing our students to provide a great show. Thank you to all the parents, alumni, and community members who have dedicated their time, talent, and treasure to support our students who will brave the stage this weekend. I hope that you and your family have an opportunity to attend one of the shows.
The next few weeks are action packed. We start with Right to Read Week and all of the fun reading activities that Mrs. Busse has organized for our students. Then it is Teens Hight on Life week when our middle school students perform service, worship, attend seminars and presentations on positive directions and finish the week with a 5K race through Perrysburg. The week will start with Mass and the sixth grade two mile run. This week is often referred to as the "highlight of the middle school experience".
May 7-11 is our Teacher Appreciation Week. Fun activities and a lunch are planned throughout the week as our Pirates Parents Club is working to thank our teachers for their work and dedication.
May is a busy but fun time of the year. I look forward to seeing many of you at these fun activities.

Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt

All students must have a note if he/she has a change in normal dismissal procedures. Students will go home by their normal procedure unless parents contact the office by 2:30pm.

Parents making emergency calls will be asked to meet their child in the school office and sign them out so we can be sure students are accounted for and safe. For specifics on where to park and pick up your child at dismissal, if they are not riding a bus, please see the dismissal plan (pg 20) in the  school handbook.

Preschool Visits the Art Museum

Mrs. Dulaney's Preschool 4 class recently took a trip to the Art Museum to  focus on blending colors and Monet's Water Lilies. The students became art investigators, looking for the large painting in the gallery, then for colors and details in the painting.  They listened to a story about a frog in the water lily pond, and even received a different Monet-inspired book for our classroom. The students also enjoyed free play time in the Family Center.  It was a fun trip, and the students shined!

Lifeskills Program Update
The Lifeskill program is a great way to recognize students for their positive behavior, but it is also meant to help students identify and understand the character traits they strive to demonstrate as kind and faithful children of God.
However, we are continuing to look for ways to make the program valuable for the students here at school. Listed below are a few things we have done to recognize more students for the Lifeskill Awards.
For example, we provided teachers a list of all the winners over the last three years. This will help ensure that we avoid duplicate winners over time so more students have the opportunity to be recognized.
Additionally, teachers will work really hard toward nominating all Saint Rose K-8 students every 2 years for the Lifeskill of the month. This will involve tracking throughout the years, so please give some grace if we accidentally miss a student. Feel free to communicate with us if we miss a student after two years and we will certainly work to remedy the concern.
Lastly, teachers will continue to recognize students with their own lifeskill certificates when he or she demonstrates the lifeskills in the classroom.
There may be times when a student feels disappointed when he or she does not win the Lifeskill Award in a particular month. Here are some strategies and resources that may help with those discussions at home.
  1. Validate your child's feelings
  2. Focus on your child's efforts and discuss positive ways to grow
  3. Emphasize sportsmanship and the importance of being happy for others' recognition as well
Article- Here's how to teach your kids to lose (and why that's okay) by Mia Geiger. The Washington Post
We are continuing to work on ways to improve the process.
Thank you for your support of this great program!

SMART Tuition - PLEASE READ!

Dear Saint Rose Families,

This coming school year, in an effort to reduce our paper waste, Saint Rose School will be sending our tuition statements electronically through Smart Tuition. Due to this change  EVERY family will need to have a Smart Tuition account even if you plan to pay tuition in full. Most families already have an account and will just need to re-enroll and verify that all of your information is correct.

If you do not know what your Smart Tuition family ID is please contact Mrs. Rakosik in the office at  (419)874-5631 or email at [email protected]

Please note that this process needs to be completed no later than  April 30, 2018 so that tuition statements can be sent out in a timely manner. If you have not completed your re-enrollment by  April 30, 2018 your account will be automatically rolled over for next school year.

Tuition for the 2018-2019 school year must be paid in full or a payment plan setup no later than  June 1, 2018.

Thank you!

Track & Field

Track and Field week for grades K-5 will be here before we know it! Order your t-shirts today! Students will be able to wear these during their events and later as spirit wear and gym attire.
