FROM THE PASTOR...
Church

Easters Yesterday and Today by Pastor Kevin Wrigley
When I was a boy we always celebrated Easter at my Grandparent McKee's home. Grandpa was a United Methodist pastor so we had to wait until after church for our egg hunt in the back yard behind the parsonage. Some of the plastic eggs had candy in them and some of the eggs were candy! And then we each had one or two eggs that had our individual names on them that had a dime inside (grandma wanted be sure that we each got an equal amount).

This year we again would like to decorate our sanctuary with beautiful spring flowers for Easter.  As in the past, we will make arrangements for you.  If you would like to purchase a flower, please give your money contribution to Lynette Altman, Barb Blaha,  Cheryl Orkis or Diana Thompson by Sunday, March 18th.  Contribution forms (as we use during Christmas) are available in the Narthex so that you can designate whether your flower is in honor of or in memory of a loved one(s).  These forms should be completed and returned to Amy Mosher or one of the committee members by April 8th, and the names will be printed in the May newsletter.

"THE MIRACLE ON ICE"

Charlie Adams will deliver the presentation "The Miracle on Ice" at North
Judson United Methodist Church  Friday  evening  March 9th at 6:30 . Charlie
has spent years researching the most fascinating story in American sports
history, an event that made our nation believe in itself again. After the
1970's had brought American esteem to an alltime low, and with the
hostages in Iran and the Soviets in Afghanistan, it was a group of fresh
faced young men, primarily from here in the Midwest, that rose up like
David against Goliath and beat the seemingly invincible Soviet hockey team
on a sheet of ice in the Adirondacks in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake
Placid. These boys, who came from low to barely middle income salt of the
earth homes, won the gold medal and forever entrenched themselves in
American history.

Charlie will tell us how it happened and how we can take the lessons and
apply it to our lives. This is a powerful program, filled with emotion.
Invite your family and friends. If you know of someone that could use
encouragement, bring them! Bring your young people as they will learn
about unity of team, love for one another, work ethic, setting goals and
faith in God.

When the USA boys had defeated the Soviets 4-3 in the greatest upset in
sports history, they went to the locker room and honored God by singing
God Bless America over and over! We will sing it that night during the
presentation!

Mark your calendars!  Friday March 9, 6:30 pm.  Charlie presents The Miracle
on Ice!
