ANNOUNCEMENTS
What does it mean to find harmony in relationships? Can individuals create it or is it necessary to have a cooperative partner? Why is having harmonious interactions with others important? Educator Peter Dodington will present
Odysseus and His Women: Like-Minded Harmony? at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, in the F.W. Olin Building, Room 102. The lecture is sponsored by the Center for Ethics and Public Engagement.

Music spanning 300 years will be presented at the Music Faculty Showcase recital at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 2 in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. The performance is the kickoff to the 2018-19 faculty artist series.

Calling all world travelers! Join the International Studies Department for our Open House Thursday, September 6 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the Center for Global Learning, Larsen Hall. Students will share stories from their recent study abroad adventures, and answer questions about Luther's International Studies program--a major and minor that allows students to explore their interests in any corner of the world.

Sunday Night Worship/Focus is a student-led worship service with music, speaking, and prayer, usually held at 9:00pm in the CFL Main Hall. Tonight's service will be held in Bentdahl Commons at 8:00pm (rain location: CFL Main Hall), and our speaker will be Ben Johnson.

Join Luther's Gospel Choir for rehearsals beginning Sunday, September 9, 5-6 p.m. in Jensen Choir Room. Learn songs of faith, hope, justice and joy. No audition required. Gospel Choir, directed by Dr. Jennaya Robison, will rehearse once a week on Sunday nights until mid November and will sing for campus and community events through the year.
 
Join an Outreach Team (student-led teams that share faith creatively with area congregations and meet weekly on campus) by coming to the front of the CFL at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 7. We'll walk to Will Baker Park and return to campus around 9:30 p.m. You can RSVP via email to [email protected] or just show up. There will be s'mores and capture the flag!
   
Due to policy changes at the Winneshiek County Recycling, Luther College will no longer be collecting plastic film for recycling. The Center for Sustainable Communities thanks you for your participation in this program and hopes the Luther community continues to reduce their plastic film usage

The Center Stage Series presents PUSH [physical theatre] Saturday, September 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. PUSH performers express what it means to be human using gravity-defying acrobatics, intense athleticism, and soulful artistry that broaden our definition of both dance and theatre. The fall concert has been announced! SAC Concerts is excited to announce that Lizzo will be performing in the Luther College Regents Center on Friday, September 28 at 9 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, free for students with CAF and $25 to the public.

Odysseus and His Women, September 4, 7 p.m. Olin 214 - Please join the CEPE in an ongoing conversation about this year's summer read: The Odyssey.  Long-time educator and Classics instructor, Peter Dodington will discuss Odysseus's relationship with the women in his life, asking the question: does he achieve the "like-minded harmony" he seeks? The LCWireless5G network has been retired. Faculty, Staff, and Students should prefer LCSecure on those devices that support connecting to it (e.g. most computers, tablets, and smartphones). The LCWireless network is intended for use by other devices such as game consoles or media streaming devices that don't support connecting to LCSecure. Student Payroll Dates Changing - The college has decided to change the payroll dates of all student work for the benefit of our students. Student workers will now be paid on a biweekly basis with the first paycheck scheduled for September 19, 2018. Please contact your supervisor or the Student Employment Office with any questions or concerns regarding the new pay dates.
 
Book Shop Professor Spotlight - Congratulations to Associate Professor of Religion, Todd Green on his new book, Presumed Guilty, Why We Should't Ask Muslims To Condemn Terrorism. His book is now available for purchase in the Book Shop. Mark you calendar as he also will be giving a lecture based on his new book, and a book signing on September 20 at 7p.m. in F.W. Olin Building, Room 102.
 
Jostens On Campus - Do you need to have your Luther Class ring fixed or are you in the market to order your class ring? A Jostens representative will be on campus Wednesday, August 29-Friday August 31 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Dahl Union entrance for your shopping or repair needs.
 
Taking objects found around her living space, painter Phoebe Jan-McMahon strives to create a place for viewers to escape the hustle of life with her work. Her exhibit, "The Adjacent" will be on display through October 27 in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts.
