Teen Advisory Board
Our Next Meeting is Coming Up!
Are you interested in joining the Eagle Harbor Book Company's Teen Advisory Board (TAB)?

We are thrilled to give students (aged 13-19) the opportunity to read upcoming YA titles before they are on the shelf and talk to the booksellers at our store about what books YOU like to read. We meet once a month at Eagle Harbor Books, where TAB members can talk to each other about their latest reads, check out (free!) books, and share reviews.

WHAT'S NEW IN PICTURE BOOKS?

Mo Willems, a number one New York Times best-selling author and illustrator, composes a powerful symphony of chance, discovery, persistence, and magic in this moving tale of a young girl's journey to center stage. Illustrator Amber Ren brings Willems' music to life, conducting a stunning picture-book debut.

This book is about Circle. This book is also about Circle's friends, Triangle and Square. Also it is about a rule that Circle makes, and how she has to rescue Triangle when he breaks that rule. With their usual pitch-perfect pacing and subtle, sharp wit, Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen come full circle in the third and final chapter of their clever shapes trilogy.

In this empowering new picture book, beloved author Peter H. Reynolds explores the many ways that a single voice can make a difference. Each of us, each and every day, have the chance to say something: with our actions, our words, and our voices. Perfect for kid activists everywhere, this timely story reminds readers of the undeniable importance and power of their voice.

In his eagerly anticipated debut as author-illustrator, Caldecott and Coretta Scott King honoree Christian Robinson brings young readers on a playful, imaginative journey into another world.

What if you...
encountered another perspective?
Discovered another world?
Met another you?
What might you do?

Out in the ocean, deep down in the kelp forest, Dolphin dances with sea lions. But suddenly he meets a Great White Shark... and then a Killer Whale... Dance, Dolphin, dance for your life! A dramatic underwater chase, set in the Pacific Ocean, with 35 sea creatures and birds to spot, from the Red Octopus and Blue Cannonball Jellyfish to the Crowned Squirrelfish and the Green Sea Turtle...

Cookie has woken up on the wrong side of the bed and is very angry. You want to know why? Well, you might hear about a certain roommate's terrible musical skills, why you should never let your barber try out a "new look," how it's impossible to find a hat that fits a cookie, and why an ice-cream parlor that's out of your favorite treat can be a source of desolation. Then there's the matter of a hungry bird who tries to snack on you...

WHAT'S NEW FOR TEENS?

In free verse, Anderson shares reflections, rants, and calls to action woven between deeply personal stories from her life that she's never written about before. Searing and soul-searching, this important memoir is a denouncement of our society's failures and a love letter to all the people with the courage to say #MeToo and #TimesUp, whether aloud, online, or only in their own hearts. Shout speaks truth to power in a loud, clear voice-- and once you hear it, it is impossible to ignore.

They are Hazel, James, Aubrey, and Colette. A classical pianist from London, a British would-be architect-turned-soldier, a Harlem-born ragtime genius in the U.S. Army, and a Belgian orphan with a gorgeous voice and a devastating past. Their story, as told by the goddess Aphrodite, who must spin the tale or face judgment on Mount Olympus, is filled with hope and heartbreak, prejudice and passion, and reveals that, though War is a formidable force, it's no match for the transcendent power of Love.
