Welcome, Professor Engle!

Assistant Professor Amanda Engle, PharmD, BCPS, joined ACPHS earlier this semester to fulfill an innovative new role at the College. Previously a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist specializing in pain and palliative care at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY, Dr. Engle serves in a shared faculty position between ACPHS and Albany Medical College. Shared positions between the College and clinical sites are not uncommon, but what is different about her role is that she is teaching students from both schools while on direct patient rounds. This approach allows medical students, PA students, and pharmacy students to better learn with, from, and about each other. "The intentional interprofessional teaching component is a big part of what drew me to this opportunity," Dr. Engle says. "It's a unique feature. We believe it's one of the first, if not the only of one of its kind, in the country."

Outside of the classroom, Dr. Engle enjoys time with family and friends, especially spent cooking, hiking, mountain biking, and playing games.
Countdown to #ACPHSReunion Weekend Is On
Reunion Weekend 2018 Postcard Cover Image
It's time to register for Reunion Weekend, June 1 - 3. The Office of Institutional Advancement and some of your class agents are hard at work to give all of our alumni a memorable experience. If you have ideas or would like to coordinate a small reception for your class, we'd be happy to help you. Please submit your ideas in this form or contact us at 518.694.7393 or [email protected].

In case you missed it, the College hosted its first Vermont Reunion last weekend, celebrating the five year anniversary of the first graduating class. It was wonderful to see familiar faces and reconnect. You can view pictures from the weekend here.
An ACPHS Love Story

Sarah Hoffman '16 and Zeb Fortune '16 met while attending the ACPHS sneak preview day in 2010. After the start of school, they went on their first date. Six years later, in the Holland/Princeton dorms, Zeb got down on one knee and asked Sarah to marry him. Their wedding will take place this June.

Congratulations Sarah and Zeb!

Have you had a big change in your life? New job or promotion? New baby? Engagement or marriage? We want to hear about it. Send us an email at [email protected] to be featured in the Class Notes section of the upcoming issue of the Alumni News magazine.
Albany Campus Lobby Day Rally

April 12 was the Albany Campus Pharmacy Legislation Day Rally. In preparation for Pharmacy Lobby Day, which fell on April 17, students heard from New York Assemblyman John McDonald '85 and met with several student chapter professional organizations, including APhA-ASP, ACCP, AMCP, and PSSNY. Darren Cirillo, PharmD Candidate, Class of  2019 said, "Rally Day was a great demonstration of the positive impact we can have and the role we play as student pharmacists in terms of advocating for the profession. It was also nice to learn what the profession is trying to accomplish to make the health care field better overall."

Scholarship Reception Honors Donors & Recipients

The College held its annual Scholarship Reception on Sunday, April 8 at the Hilton Garden Inn where donors and scholarship recipients from the Albany campus were honored for their contributions and accomplishments. President Dewey opened the ceremony while Erin Tersegno, PharmD Candidate, Class of 2021, addressed the audience and expressed her gratitude and appreciation as a scholarship recipient. The Vermont campus held its Scholarship Reception on April 15 at the Essex Resort & Spa over its first Reunion Weekend. Thank you to everyone who joined us for both events.
Student Run Pharmacies: Find Them on Facebook

Our student operated pharmacies have each been open for over a year, allowing student pharmacists to develop and refine their advanced practice skills. The pharmacies have also become essential resources for the neighborhoods they serve.

Both College Hometown Pharmacy and College Parkside Pharmacy have established their own Facebook pages, stay current on events and news related to each location by liking and following each page. You can find College Hometown's page here and College Parkside's page here.
