"Together, we can make Tahoe resilient"
The 24th Annual Lake Tahoe Summit, hosted by Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, was held on August 25 with a theme that couldn’t be a better fit for the Tahoe of today - “Resilient Tahoe.” Climate change, invasive species, human impacts - like litter - and of course the pandemic threaten the lake we love. Yet, together we can Keep Tahoe Blue, no matter the challenge.

The League to Save Lake Tahoe was honored to play a role in producing the first-ever virtual Lake Tahoe Summit, working closely with Senator Cortez Masto and her team to capture the Senator’s remarks at the iconic Thunderbird Lodge, and producing other videos for the event.

We were thrilled to hear many of the event’s featured speakers, including lawmakers from California and Nevada, recognize the important work the League is doing to Keep Tahoe Blue. If you missed the event, the entire program is available to view on-demand.
Voices from Tahoe's Frontlines
Building a Resilient Tahoe starts on the frontlines: with the nurses, restaurant workers, firefighters and hospitality staff keeping our community open, healthy and vibrant. We created a video to recognize these leaders, which was part of the Lake Tahoe Summit.
Watch the interviews we captured with these inspiring men and women, and find comfort in their strength, optimism and resolve. With folks like these leading selflessly, Tahoe will emerge from these challenging times stronger and more resilient than ever.
Saluting Our Tahoe Blue Crews
Through our Tahoe Blue Crew volunteer program, Tahoe-lovers are taking action to protect our Jewel of the Sierra.
As of September, we have 58 trained and active Blue Crews who have conducted 295 cleanups and removed 3,635 pounds of litter from the Tahoe environment. Our Blue Crews are pitching in wherever they’re needed, including in Tahoe's popular National Forests through a partnership with the US Forest Service.

You can be part of the solution too. Attend one of our online trainings, then form your own Tahoe Blue Crew. It doesn’t matter if you’re a local or a visitor - all that matters is your commitment to Keep Tahoe Blue.
Loretta, one of our stellar Blue Crew leaders, recently shared why she’s involved, and how Blue Crews are making a difference.
A great first step is to take part in Tahoe’s Trash Pickup Challenge all month long.

Every Saturday in September is a cleanup day. Join us by tidying up in your neighborhood, local happy place or one of the litter hot spots around the Lake. If Saturdays don’t work, you can clean up any day, any time.
We thank and recognize our passionate volunteers for tackling Tahoe’s litter problem head-on. Our team are not the only ones who have taken notice.

Busy summers come with lots of litter. Help us keep the Tahoe that we love clean by participating in Tahoe's Trash Pickup Challenge all September long! You can join us at our in-person events, cleanup remotely or do both.

The beaches can get thrashed with trash after the popular holiday weekend festivities. Help us keep our beaches clean, from a safe social distance! We provide cleanup materials, you provide your passion for protecting Lake Tahoe.
Tahoe Blue Crew Online Training

Tahoe Blue Crews are trained to adopt and protect a favorite spot around the Lake from degradation. These trainings will get you ready to become a #TahoeBlueGooder.
Stay Fire-Safe
It's been difficult to escape the smoke lately. Do your part to keep Tahoe fire-safe by abiding by all fire restrictions now in place. That includes a Basin-wide ban on all burning of wood and charcoal.

Preventing catastrophic wildfires keeps you safe and Tahoe Blue.
