Red for Ed Movement and Possible Teacher Walkout

You are probably aware of the #RedForEd movement which has mobilized teachers and supporters in Arizona to call for increased compensation for teachers and increased funding for schools overall. If you haven't been following these developments, it's time to start, as teachers across the state voted in support of a walkout, which is currently scheduled for next Thursday, to pressure state leaders to address the issues.  Here's a link to story posted this morning on azcentral.com that provides more details:   https://tinyurl.com/News-Re-Possible-Walk-Out

This is a fluid set of circumstances and I will try my best to keep you updated as we learn more. As of the time of writing this message, I cannot say definitively if a potential walkout will occur or not in FHUSD. My hope is that it will not. We will share information early next week as the situation becomes clearer. Look for any "special announcements" in your inbox and on the district's Facebook page.

Local Election Information

The ballots will begin arriving in local mailboxes next week asking voters to participate in the May 15 election for the primary property tax. This is an all-mail ballot and can be mailed back any time up until May 15. However, to be counted voters are urged to mail them early.  Voters who prefer to drop their ballots off in person may do so as follows:
* Drop off completed ballot to Town Hall, 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains, April 25 through May 15, 7 AM - 6 PM, Monday - Thursday;
* OR drop off at the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana, May 5 through May 14, 10 AM - 6 PM, Monday through Friday;
* OR drop off at any of the Maricopa County Recorder Offices:
     -510 South 3rd Avenue, 8 AM - through 5 PM, Monday through Friday
     -111 South 3rd Avenue, Suite 102, 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday through Friday
     -222 E. Javelina Drive, Mesa, 8 AM - through 5 PM; Saturday, May 5 and May 12, 8 AM - 5 PM
