"Celebration Sunday: Now Is the Time!"
On this Sunday when we kick off our stewardship drive, we will celebrate FUUSB and living into the Beloved Community. In our troubled world, how important is the mission - the fundamental purpose - of our congregation? What are we called to do in the coming years? Our worship will include guest jazz musicians, Coffeehouse Singers, congregants offering reflections, and a homily by Rev. Susan and Rev. Andre on offering our love in a world calling out to be whole. A special coffee hour - with treats! - to follow the service.

Now Is the Time!
2019-2020 Stewardship Campaign
Sandy Titchner

As we head into the annual stewardship campaign for 2019-2020,  Now Is the Time to prayerfully pause, reflect, and consider your annual financial commitment to First UU. What does the Society mean to you? How can you support it in the coming fiscal year? Time, talents, and making a financial commitment early and as generously as your circumstances allow will help the community to continue to thrive and move forward.

Here's what to expect in the upcoming weeks:

Celebration Sunday - March 17 - The kick-off off when we celebrate us and ask you to make your commitment. Commitment cards and brochures will be available at the services, and there will be tables in the Parlors and Community Room where Stewardship Team members will be available to answer questions. The campaign runs from  Mid-March to mid-April.

Gratitude Sunday - April 14 - When we say thank you to everyone for their generosity.

Come to weekly services to hear several of your friends sharing about why they give. Visit the Stewardship tables after services and share what this Society means to you. Check out the bulletin board to learn why your commitment is vital to the day-to-day opportunities provided by First UU.  Now Is the Time.

Drop-in Parents Chalice Circle - March 24
Sarah Russell

The March Parents Chalice Circle is March 24 from 10:10-11:10 a.m. downstairs.  Please look on the white board for the exact location. The Nursery knows that parents are meeting so will have extra coverage for all ages. This is a pilot so after the May meeting we will evaluate what to change. Please spread the word among other parents. This is an opportunity to explore a spiritual topic with other parents.

Proactive & Gracious - March 24
Sunday, March 24, 12:15-2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Please join visiting presenter Jennifer Greene of Long Island, NY, as she screens  "Cesar Chavez: Respect for All", an inspiring 22-minute video on the universal rights advocacy of Cesar Chavez, featuring his great-grand-niece, Genesis Butler, a 9-year-old girl of African American, Apache, and Hispanic descent. This will be followed by a talk, "Heeding Genesis & Eating for a Small, Hot, and Hurting Planet: What Gets In Our Way?"

Light refreshments provided. See posters for more detail or contact Suzie McCoy,  [email protected]  or Valerie Wood-Lewis,  [email protected] .

Mailing Lists
Christina Fulton, Director of Operations and Finance

Over the past few months, we've noticed an increase in the number of FUUSB members using their FUUSB Contact List/Directory for sending political requests via email. So please accept this as a reminder that FUUSB contacts should not be used for anything other than FUUSB business. If you do a lot of emailing with members of the congregation, be careful not to send non-FUUSB business to everyone in your contact list. Thank you for your cooperation.

Bereavement Group
purple-water-flowers.jpg
The First UU Society of Burlington Pastoral Care Associates team invites you to a Bereavement group which will begin on Tuesday, April 2. The group will be held on Tuesday evenings in April and May from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

No one is immune to losses. It comes in many forms such as loss of a loved one by death, a miscarriage, or a suicide. It may be an anticipatory loss or loss of a job, finances, a sense of self, and much more.

If you are interested in attending, please register  here.

If you have any questions please call Brenda Dupuis at 802-338-7196.

Dear First UUs:

Sunday, May 5 is the annual COTS Walk. This is a picture of last year's small but enthusiastic UU team. We hope to have a bigger turn-out this year and need your help. Please visit the COTS (Committee on Temporary Shelter) website (http://give.cotsonline.org/site/TR?fr_id=1040&pg=entry), click the "Join a Team" button, and enter our team name, First UU for COTS, to join our team.

We will also have a table in the Parlors after the services over the next few weeks if you need help registering for the walk or sponsoring the team.  Thank you for your support!
