We are sure you enjoyed the wonderful results of the many hours spent throughout the Elementary division in preparation for  Pesach . The girls designed beautiful  Haggados  that depicted the lessons of  Yitzias Mitzrayim  in a creative manner.

THIRD GRADE
The Third Grade concentrates on many key skills that will allow our students to excel in all areas of life. These skills include understanding language and shorashim (root words) as the girls learn Chumash, as well as multiplication and cursive writing. The lessons are presented in a fun and engaging manner, using songs, multi-sensory instruction, and a great deal of teacher care.

FOURTH GRADE
The  Fourth Grade students spent the months leading up to the  Pesach break reading  and writing about the great expansion west during the 1800s. This culminated in their very professional performance of an adapted version of Laura Ingalls Wilder 's Little House on the Prairie in a play entitled: "Heading West". Enjoy these short clips of their presentations.

FIFTH GRADE DEBATES
As our Fifth Graders study how to write an effective persuasive argument in their Language Arts class, they are also studying debate techniques. The students were given an opportunity to debate the topic of 'Should the Government attach labels to soda bottles, warning consumers of the sugar content?' The students refined their oral and written skills while making claims, presenting evidence, and defending against counter-claims. They each found a solid basis to form their opinions and experienced a new level of discussion around a serious topic.

FIFTH GRADE MAKKOS CARNIVAL
As you walk into the halls of Bais Yaakov's Fifth Grade, beware! You may get hit by one of the Makkos! The girls created fantastic carnival style games that relate to the Makkos. Pop a red balloon for Makkas Sh'chin (Plague of Boils), or throw a small frog through the mouth of a larger frog for Makkas Tzefardayah (Plague of Frogs), or go fishing for Makkas Arbeh (Plague of Locusts). Each booth brought the plagues to life as the girls shared their knowledge about these nissim (miracles) of Hashem.
