Weekly Letter From Our Pastor

Make a Difference, Change the World
Once upon a time I was called to serve a church where one of my first jobs was shoring up their rather depleted middle and high school youth ministries. This is easy, I thought. Step One: let's move the confirmation age from Grade Six to Grade Eight or Nine. When I brought my grand proposal to the Youth Ministry Team, their negative reaction hit me like a tsunami. You'd think I'd suggested removing Bibles from the pew rack or introducing guitars to worship (we did one that the next year!). One parent after another called to inform me there was no way they would allow such foolishness in their church.

Enemies. Antagonists. Adversaries. In most every step of life we encounter them, right? Especially when we set out to do anything of significance.

This week in Nehemiah chapter 3, we follow this servant of God as he follows his God-calling, only to discover his path is marked with some major obstacles: namely, people who have a vested interest in the status quo and want no part of a, 'new and improved Jerusalem.'

This week in our, "Make a Difference, Change the World," series we continue our journey further into the life of Nehemiah. Our theme: "Bumps in the Road."

Living for Jesus!
