Alumni Spotlight: Christine Cambareri

The Alumni Alert recently caught up with Christine Cambareri '13 to hear how life has been since graduation.
  1. Why did you want to become a pharmacist? I was finishing up my Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering when my aunt was diagnosed with lung cancer. Her illness and the involvement of a pharmacist on her care team really inspired me. Once I arrived at the ACPHS Vermont campus, my academic advisor really helped set me up for success. The electives and rotations I chose helped me get the job I have always wanted.
  2. What have you been doing since graduation? After graduation I was blessed with the opportunity to complete two post graduate years of residency training to further my education and career. I spent one year doing a pharmacotherapy residency at Christiana Care in Delaware. I did a second year at Yale New Haven Health System in Connecticut, completing a year of training in hematology and oncology pharmacy. After graduating from residency in 2015, I accepted a position as an outpatient solid tumor clinical pharmacy specialist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, which is where I am today. In my current role I educate patients on their intravenous and oral chemotherapy treatments, answer drug information questions from patients and providers, and practice alongside providers in optimizing patients cancer and supportive care.
  3. Do you have any favorite memories of ACPHS Vermont? I have too many memories from my time at ACPHS to count, and my heart truly smiles when I think of them and my classmates. Being a part of the first class at the new satellite campus made our class very close. We were like family. I am honored to still be very close with many of my classmates and to call them friends and professional colleagues. I think the memory I most enjoy, which showcases the family we were, was when our class raised money to help one of our classmates replace tires that were stolen off his car. It was awesome to give him that surprise as a group.
We love hearing from our graduates and plan to showcase more of your stories in the Alumni Alert . Please send us an update at [email protected] or call the Office of Institutional Advancement at 518.694.7393.
