JANUARY 2019 NEWSLETTER
Welcome Back and Happy 2019! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Holiday Spectacular! We had a great time!

We are anticipating an exciting 2019. The studio is beginning to prepare for the end of the year recital. Yes, already! This newsletter is full of information about costumes, classes, attendance, and so much more. If you have any questions, please contact the front desk at 301-846-4247.

Hand washing and dressing warmly is very important. Germs aren't shared if they are washed off. Bodies are warm after class but it is VERY important to cover up before going outside to help prevent injuries. We want all the students healthy. Thank you for being part of 24/7 Dance Studio.

Sincerely,
Gina Korrell, Artistic Director

Recital Announcement
24/7 Dance Studio will be adding a 5th show this year to the recital weekend! This helps to minimize the length of the shows. The additional show will be a children's show that will Saturday June 1st at 10:00 am.

The shows will be as follows this year:
Children's Show A Saturday June 1 at 10am
Children's Show B Saturday June 1 at 2pm
Children's Show C Sunday June 2 at 2pm
Recital A Saturday June 1 at 6pm
Recital B Sunday June 2 at 6pm

You will be notified of what show(s) your child is performing in March 15th.
Recital Music

We will be emailing class recital music directly to our families! This will happen early March. Thank you!
Winter Weather

WE DO NOT FOLLOW the Frederick County Public School Inclement Weather closings. If there is inclement weather, the studio will make a decision to close by 8am for all morning classes and by 2pm for all late afternoon/evening classes.

If FCPS is on a 2 hour delay, 24/7 morning/daytime classes are cancelled.

Please check the website, your email, Facebook, and/or the studio answering machine for closing notifications. In the event the weather becomes problematic during classes, a decision will be made, and classes will be contacted accordingly.

Costume Update

Recital costumes are ordered. Some will start to arrive as early as February and some may not arrive until April. Once the costumes arrive, students will try on costumes during the last 10 minutes of class to make sure all the pieces arrived. Teachers will report major costume issues to the front desk.

Plan to help your younger student try on costumes so they do not lose any costume pieces. It is your responsibility to have costumes altered if needed. Each costume company recommends the best size based on your child's measurements. Please keep costumes hung neatly and keep all accessories with the costume. Do not allow your children to play in their costume until the recital is over.

Look for the LABEL ON THE COSTUME BAG. This will list which tights, shoes, hairstyles, and accessories are needed for their dance. These labels also will tell you when the class's scheduled picture day and time is as well as their dress rehearsal and recital days and times. PLEASE keep this information in a place that you can easily refer to.
Attendance Policy

As the recital approaches, it is important that each student makes every effort to attend class. If your child misses more than 3 classes after February 1st, they risk their participation in the recital. Each class will start working on their recital pieces in February. A portion of each class will be devoted to the recital dance and that makes your child's attendance very important . Make-up classes are no longer offered after February 1st.

Tardiness
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EACH STUDENT ARRIVES IN CLASS ON TIME. Tardiness does not set a student up for success emotionally and physically. Make sure to allow time to get to class on time.

Reminder:
2 times late = 1 absence
2 time leaving early = 1 absence
2 times watching = 1 absence

If your young child is late, please go to the front desk and have the desk staff take them into class for minimal disruption. Make it your New Year's Resolution to be 10 minutes early for class.

If you have any questions/concerns, please contact the front desk at 301-846-4247
New Year Reminders

As we start the second half of our dance year, we would like to remind you of a few things:

*Please remind students to go to the restroom BEFORE class begins.
*A parent must be in the building for all students age 7 and under. If you know that your child has difficulty using the restroom by him/herself or has any other difficulties and may need you, please stay in the building.
*Please check to make sure your child comes to class in the proper attire. A list of proper attire requirements for each class can be found in your Studio Guide and on our website.
*If you wash your canvas ballet shoes, let them air dry, they will shrink in the dryer.
*Lastly, please try to leave the studio as you have found it. We do our best to provide a clean environment for all of our students and appreciate our students and parents efforts to keep it this way.

We are thankful you chose 24/7 and hope you enjoy your year with us.

Ambassador's Message

Hey there, everybody! It’s your friendly neighborhood ambassador, David here with some tips for getting back into the swing of things as we come back from this holiday break. As we come back, it can be hard to get back to the routine of school, work, dance, etc. One thing that helps me is making sure that my dance bag is packed and ready to go. Make sure to check your dance bag to be certain that you have all of the things you need for your classes. I know time management can be hard to get back to after such long time off, so remember to keep in mind what time your classes are so you can be to the studio on time. And finally, when it comes to a long break it can be easy for us to get lazy. Doing some stretching and light exercises, like going for a walk perhaps, is a good way to stay in tip top shape so you can be ready to get into the second part of our dance year. I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday break and is ready to have some fun dancing and tumbling again at 24/7! Thank you for reading!
