Glen Foerd-HFU Speaker Series: Finding Fairmount Park

Thursday, April 26
7:00pm - 8:30pm
Holy Family Hall 109

Philadelphia boasts one of the oldest, largest, and most diverse park systems in the US. Yet our parks receive scant attention in histories of landscape design and city planning. Elizabeth Milroy, author of The Grid and the River: Philadelphia's Green Places, 1682-1876, will speak on the unique development of Philadelphia's parks in the two centuries after William Penn and Thomas Holme first made the city plan.

The lecture is part of the  Glen Foerd-Holy Family University Speaker Series that showcases topics of area cultural and historical interest. The series invites a distinguished speaker to Holy Family University each semester for a lecture on a topic in American history from the War of 1812 through the early 20th century, which is the period of time interpreted by Glen Foerd on the Delaware, the historic house museum located a few blocks from campus.  Read more information here.

All lectures in the Glen Foerd-Holy Family University Speaker Series are free and open to the public.
