NASCSP Data Taskforce Releases New Resource
The NASCSP Data Taskforce Analysis Subcommittee has created an FAQ on analysis . This Analysis FAQ is intended as a resource for the CSBG Network to use when beginning to think about data analysis. This introduction should be used to help the network understand what data analysis is and begin a conversation about how someone might go about analyzing data. This will be the first step in a series of FAQ’s that build off of each other.

Several other resources are currently in development by the Data Taskforce those include:

  • FY19 Instruction Manuals for Modules 2 and 4 will be available on the NASCSP website in mid-December. There will be no updates to Module 3 Instruction Manual (already available).
  • A sample of possible “Other” Indicators that can be used when entering for outcomes that don’t have an already established NPI will be released in mid-December.
  • The CSBG Lexicon, a dictionary of terms used in the Annual Report, will be finalized by the end of December.

Once all of these items are available, we will send them out to the network.
CSBG Reporter - New Reporting Module Demo
As many of you know we have been working with CSBG Reporter to develop a reporting module for all quarterly reports. This will replace the spreadsheet reports that were previously submitted to our office.

That module is now complete and our office will be hosting a demo webinar on Tuesday, Dec. 18th at 10am. We suggest that anyone who submits reports for your agency be on this webinar so they understand how to use the new system.

Webinars can be attended by any staff or board members who are interested in the topic and pre-registration is not needed.

Please Promote EITC: the most successful anti-poverty program
Low and moderate income families have the opportunity to use Virginia’s free tax preparation sites and to apply for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The EITC—a refundable tax credit for people who work but earn low incomes—is the country’s largest and most successful anti-poverty program. The EITC delivers over $40 billion dollars a year in wage supplements to lower-income workers and their families and lifts more than 4 million people out of poverty each year yet there are thousands of families in Virginia who are eligible but don’t apply for that tax credit. Please make wage earners that you work with aware of these opportunities. Please share this informational flyer.

Nominate an Outstanding Volunteer!
Deadline December 15th!
Do you know someone who is always putting others first? How about an organization or business that never hesitates to help out whenever there's a problem in the community?

The Governor's Volunteerism and Community Service Awards are presented in each of nine categories. The nine outstanding award winners represent the millions of generous Virginians who offer their time and talents to others each year.

Winners will be honored at a special ceremony in the spring. The Governor's Advisory Board on Service and Volunteerism, the Virginia Service Foundation, and the Virginia Office on Volunteerism and Community Services are honored to assist the Governor in selecting and recognizing these volunteers.
