Green Apple Day @ Stadium High School & Sammamish High School
Friday, January 11th
Stadium High School (Tacoma)
10:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Tuesday, January 15th
Sammamish High School (Bellevue)
10:45 AM - 1:45 PM

The ASCE Sustainability Committee is hosting Green Apple Day! Students will conduct an energy audit on items at school and discuss how they can conserve energy in their everyday lives. The project will be completed with two groups of students at each school, so come join us for one or both of the events!

Please contact Amanda Schweickert  for more information or if you would like to volunteer. Carpools may be available.
Alaskan Way Viaduct 8k Run
Saturday, January 19th
7:30 AM - 11:00 AM

Check out the new tunnel before everyone else! For one last chance to be on the Alaska Way viaduct and run through the new SR-99 tunnel, join us on the Tunnel to Viaduct fun run. The course is 8 kilometers long, so everyone is free to take it at their own pace. The YMF will host a happy hour after the event to replenish all the calories we just burnt off! Contact Leo Moyer if you plan on attending.

You are responsible for your own registration. Use the code ASCE10 for 10% off!

Seattle Thunderbirds and Networking!
Saturday, January 19th
4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Come join your fellow YMFers for night of Thunderbirds hockey as they take on the Victoria Royals. This will be a joint event with the Tacoma/Olympia YMF, so it's a great opportunity to see some new faces. Because the event is at the Showare Center in Kent, carpooling will be available from the Seattle area. We plan to have a pregame networking event at The Ram (with appetizers provided by YMF!) in Kent, and the game starts at 6:05 PM. Ticket costs are expected to be around $22/person and plus ones are welcome.

If you are interested, please RSVP to Leo Moyer @  [email protected]
by January 4th.

January Volunteering Event - Farestart
Saturday, January 26th
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Seattle

Start the new year right with Farestart where we will volunteer our kitchen prep skills to help prepare meals for those in need. We will meet at Farestart at 10 AM. As we will stand for most of the event (~5 hours), please dress comfortably in long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes, and bring a hat if you have one. Aprons and lunch will be provided. As always, look forward to a fun learning and giving experience!

If interested, please email Shirley, ideally by January 4th!
Student CEE Office Tours: Volunteers Needed

ASCE YMF would like to present an opportunity for Seattle U and UW students to tour local civil engineering firms. This is a great chance to explain what you do right from the comfort of your office.

If you are interested in volunteering your company for an office tour, please contact Bianca Casem.
Student Lunch and Learn Presenters - Volunteers Needed

The University of Washington ASCE Student Chapter is seeking lunch and learn speakers to present on topics including (but not limited to) civil engineering career paths, projects and technical challenges, or general professional development tips for the students. This would be a great opportunity to showcase your firm, network with UW students, and market career openings. The ASCE student chapter will arrange the location of the presentation somewhere on the UW campus, while lunches are typically company sponsored.

If you are interested please contact Peter Deng.
If you didn't volunteer for ^^ those then consider this one...

POPSICLE STICK BRIDGE, fondly referred to as PSB.

This is one of the YMF's largest events, and our largest K-12 outreach event all year.

YMF is looking for volunteers for the planning of the event as well as for the day of event. If anyone is interested, please email [email protected] with subject line "PSB Volunteering."
