2018 Kindergarten - Grade 3 Christmas Program
Congratulations to our Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students, as well as their teachers and Mrs. Fahim for a wonderful Christmas program performance. "Mr. Pfister's Christmas Time Travelers" took us on a great adventure through time to visit the Nativity and truly remember the reason for the season!

Winter Enrichment 2019
Looking for a gift for your student this Christmas? Why not give them a fun experience gift with a winter enrichment class! Choose from dance, soccer, fitness, animal detectives, baton twirling and much more! Saint Rose Class Mass - 1st Grade - January 13, 2019
Come join other families with students in Grade 1 at 9am Mass on January 13, 2019. Together with the larger Saint Rose family, you can create bonds of friendship as you worship together. After the Mass, enjoy a simple reception in the Sacred Heart Center (school cafeteria). One family is asked to volunteer to bring up the Offertory gifts, and several families are asked to serve as greeters before Mass (arrive at 8:45 am).

This month's lesson focused on the Lifeskill of
Effort,
which focused on how important it is to do our personal best in everything thing that we do. From schoolwork to even slowing down in our writing, putting in all of our effort into our tasks is an important lifeskill.

K/1-
We read the story
Careful, Santa
by Julie Sykes. The story was about Santa and he lost his presents. As the story progressed, we discussed how important it was for Santa to put effort into solving the many problems that unravelled in the story. As a class, we discussed how we can show effort in our daily lives.
Grade 2-
We read the story
Bunny Christmas
by Rick Walton. The story focused on the many elements of Christmas and all the effort that is involved in the season. From baking cookies to decorating the house, the students discussed the many examples of effort in the story. We then discussed how to do our personal best in all that we do.
Grade 3-
We read the story
Elf Help
by Margie Palatini. The story was about an elf who was very tech savvy but wanted to take the quick way to process the list of what the children wanted for Christmas. As the story unfolded, the elf ran into a huge mix up of gifts because he wanted to be quick and then rest for the day. The students discussed how important it is to take your time and do your personal best in all that you do, or mistakes tend to happen, just like with the elf. We then discussed how to show effort in our lives, from our school work even to the simple task of writing our name legibly.
Grade 4/5-
Students continued to learn about the
Be Kind Program.
Grade 6-8-
The middle schoolers had the opportunity to discuss how the lifeskill of effort is important in their daily lives. From school work to organization, effort is imperative to a student's success. Students then participated in a budgeting activity in learning the skills involved to create and stick to a budget for Christmas. Students had to manage their money in staying within their 'pretend budget' to buy christmas gifts for their family. These budgeting skills require effort and are important when they grow up to be thriving adults.

2019 Middle School Ski/Snow Board Trip
Annual Ski/Snow Board Trip Trip - January 31
The annual Saint Rose middle school ski trip is back. The purpose of the trip is to provide our students with the opportunity to try something new, have some fun and bond as middle school students. We will also connect the trip to our science curriculum.
Students will travel by Blue Lakes Bus for this one day trip. We depart from Saint Rose School at 8:00 am and return around 7pm. Students need to arrive and be on the bus by 7:45 am. We will head to Mad River Mountain. This is a perfect trip for beginners and more advanced skiers. Lessons are offered free of charge and the staff does a nice job of making sure the kids are ready for the mountain. All students will be provided a lift ticket, rental, lesson, helmet and lunch. Parents may want to send extra money for snacks during the day as well as a quick stop at a fast food spot on the way back to school. Space is limited to 100 students. Payment is due Friday, January 11.
Saint Rose understands that skiing is not an interest that all of students share. Students that do not attend the trip will participate in fun activities at school.

Letters From Haiti 
Last year, our students wrote to students at Saint Rose School, our sister school in Haiti. Recently, those students returned the gesture and wrote back sharing their thanks and prayers for our students and school. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing these letters. Just as the Holy Family was forced to leave its homeland in order to preserve their lives, many Syrians have been forced to leave their homeland.
The need is great:
"The political and humanitarian crisis in Syria is a serious concern for the Catholic Church and the bishops of the United States. In the past five years, at least four million Syrians have fled their country as a consequence of the civil war and the rise of ISIS. Most have fled to surrounding countries, especially Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey, and many others have moved on to Europe with the hope of finding a place of peace and safety. Pope Francis and the Catholic bishops have called on the U.S. government and the international community to provide support to both Syrian refugees fleeing violence and to countries that have been at the forefront of this humanitarian effort. "
