Sunday, December 23, 10 am in the Sanctuary
The fourth Sunday of Advent features our annual presentation of the Christmas Pageant, a tradition that Covenant has enjoyed for multiple generations. We share the good news of the Christmas story through music, narration, costumes, and acting. We give thanks to our children, youth, musicians, staff, and adult volunteers for their many hours of preparation. Join us as we reflect on how the Christmas story teaches us to Love All.
Children, Youth, and Families
During Worship: Children and Youth will Present the Pageant: Messengers of God
Dwellers and Sowers (Middle and High School Youth):
Will remain in worship for the Christmas Pageant. After worship everyone in 5th-12th grades are invited to join us for Pizza and Christmas Cookies in the Living Room to discuss Summer youth trips.
Families: There will be no childcare during worship Sunday, December 23rd. We invite families to bring children of all ages to worship to enjoy the Christmas Pageant.
Covenant Commons:
The book discussion for Skylar Kergil's Before I Had the Words will be postponed until the spring as we want to offer this in a time and place that will allow for a meaningful conversation around the topic of gender and faith. Copies of the book are available in the church office.

Financial Update from Este

Thank you for your generous gifts and pledges in 2018. In order for your contribution to be tax deductible for calendar year 2018, it must be dated in December and received or postmarked in December, 2018.
You can still fulfill your 2018 pledge after December 31, 2018, but it will be counted for tax purposes in 2019.
If you have made individual contributions of $250 or more, do not file your federal income tax return until you receive a contribution statement from the Church. All donors will receive their contribution statements in January, 2019. Thank you for your faithful support of Church of the Covenant that exists to further the Kingdom of God in this world. This Sunday we will have boxes in the back of the church to collect food and financial donations for our Covenant Food Pantry, open the last Wednesday and Friday of each month, Thursday afternoons in the Connection Center for students, and for emergencies.
Homeless Stand Down: While you are doing your Christmas shopping, remember to buy items to support the Homeless Stand Down. The following items are needed: new/gently used coats (XL only), winter boots (waterproof), new men's and women's underwear, new men's and women's socks, and new/gently used scarves, hats and gloves. The deadline for items is Sunday, December 30.

If you or someone you know has a loss they would like to honor this holiday season, "Longest Night Yoga" is for you. Longest Night Yoga coincides with the arrival of the winter solstice-the longest night of the year. This contemplative yoga practice (led by former Covenant parish associate Rev. Nancy Lynch) incorporates restorative yoga, chakra balancing, aromatherapy, Reiki, interfaith prayer, and a candlelight remembrance ceremony to promote healing and a sense of peace.
Please join us at 7:30 PM this Friday, December 21, 2018, at Yoga Roots, 3459 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Heights. Cost: $20. All are welcome.
