We are proud to put the spotlight on TI member Andrew Ridker. Andrew grew up at Temple Israel and is now an author.  He will be delivering an author talk at Harvard Book Store tomorrow, March 6, at 7:00 p.m. about his new book coming out, The Altruists Learn more about the event.

Describe yourself in 3 words: Bookish, anxious, exhausted.

Describe TI in 3 words: Progressive, tolerant, warm.

What's your focus outside of synagogue life? Reading fiction, writing fiction...it's just occurred to me that I should get some hobbies.

What TI committees, clubs, etc. have you been involved in, if any? I haven't lived full-time in Boston since I was eighteen, so this is a throwback, but I used to work for Ann Abrams in the TI Library. At one point I was also selling bagels in the atrium on Sunday mornings. I was forbidden to slice the bagels, for some reason, much to the chagrin of my customers. If I sold you an unsliced bagel in those days, I apologize.

What do you value about the TI community? Growing up, I took for granted just how intellectually rigorous and socially open-minded the community is. It wasn't until I left home that I realized how lucky I was to be raised with those values.
