JV HYACKS AT MISSION THIS THURSDAY

The JVs play a very important game this Thursday in Mission, as they continue their drive to the playoffs. Deakon Young continued to impress in a loss against VC last Thursday, returning a kickoff 90 yards for a TD, scoring rushing TD from 4 yards out, and recording several tackles on defense. His 2nd TD was set up by a 72 yard interception return by Jacob MacCumber. Leonard Lastrado also added an interception while Austin Tustin stood out in his first start at DB.

TAILGATE AUCTION THIS SATURDAY NIGHT

VARSITY HYACKS SEE 20-GAME HOME WINNING STREAK COME TO AN END

The Hyacks will get a much-needed bye this weekend after a disappointing home loss against Vancouver College. The loss marks the Hyacks first at Mercer Stadium against a Canadian school since October of 2014. This Friday was originally supposed to be a game in Victoria against Belmont Secondary, but that game has been cancelled.

Despite the loss there were some encouraging performances on Friday. Greyson Planinsic finished with 8 tackles, while Evan Nolli had 6 tackles, including 3 for loss. Payton Myers rushed for 77 yards on 10 carries. The team is now 4-2 in conference play (5-3 overall). The Hyacks next game will be on Friday, Oct 26th against Seaquam HS at 7:30 at Mercer Stadium - it will also be the program's annual Seniors Night.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

The RCHFC continued their regular season this past weekend:

JR BANTAM:
Without a number of key players, the JBs fell to Richmond on Sunday. Receiver Trey McLennan was a last moment fill in at quarterback and met the challenge, going 7 of 10 for over 100 yards and 1 TD. He was also effective running the ball. Jayden Bustamante caught the TD pass, while Jozef Munoz and Sartaj Malhi made key receptions. Max Butkovskiy led the Hyacks in tackles.

PEE WEE:
The Pee Wees got back on the winning track with a 7-6 victory at North Delta. Nigel Derasp scored the Hyacks only TD on a long run. Lucas Banks scored on the convert, for what proved to be the winning points. Jalen Pagtakhan was the team's leading rusher. Defensively, Antonio Hageleit made a touchdown saving tackle and Milan Kos had a long interception long return.

ATOM:
Team Orange won 26-14 vs North Surrey. James Loredo scored the first of 4 TDs. Jai-shon Llewellyn also had a great 50 yard TD run to seal the victory. Brody Busch and Rowan Boivin lead the defense in flagging.

Hyacks Black defeated Coquitlam 24-16. Key flags from George Paterakis, Cruz Dela Cruz and Demetri Biniaris kept the game close. With time running down Team Blacks D-line held Coquitlam at 4th and goal to force a turn on downs. Benjamin MacKinnon scored on a 110 yard run for the game winning TD.
