D2L Sunset - What You Need to Know
As the UW System migrates from D2L to Canvas, we will be sunsetting D2L. This means that as of June 2019, we will no longer offer any courses through D2L.

Here is a timeline of important milestones:
  • June 2019: All courses will be taught in Canvas. There will no longer be any courses taught through D2L.
  • January 2020: All D2L content will need to be exported and saved by January 2020.
  • June 2020: All access to D2L will be removed. Faculty, staff, students, and LMS administrators will permanently lose all access to D2L.

Helpful reminders:
  • Export content from D2L locker. If you use the D2L locker, make sure that you are downloading all of that content and storing it on your computer or OneDrive.
  • Remember to save your content.
  • Double check everything. Make sure you have all of your content stored on your computer and/or OneDrive.

Please note, we will be sending additional communication about the sunset as we near the end of the semester. We are just sending this initial communication now to make you aware that D2L is going away soon. Look for more communication in April and May.
Turnitin Issues Remain Unresolved
We’ve been in contact with both Canvas and Turnitin support to figure out what has been happening with the integration. At the beginning of the semester it seemed like the communication between Canvas and Turnitin stopped. Papers stopped being submitted to Turnitin and other strange glitches occurred. We have been back and forth between the UW System, Canvas, and Turnitin to find the source of the problem. Not only is this issue affecting Parkside, but it is also affecting the entire UW System and multiple other institutions in the country.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do on our end to fix this issue. Turnitin support has been working closely with Canvas, we expect that this will be resolved soon. As of now, the integration is not working as it should and it is likely you will continue to encounter errors when submitting papers to Turnitin.

We will be sending out updates when we receive more information.

Note: These glitches are also impacting D2L, so this is not solely a Canvas issue.
Reminder: Canvas Tier 1 Support available
Canvas offers Tier 1 Support for all faculty and students 24/7, 365 days a year. If you have a question about Canvas or need help finding something, please contact Tier 1 Support first as they are able to impersonate accounts and troubleshoot directly, something our admin team is unable to do.

You can access Tier 1 Support by logging in to Canvas and clicking on the Help button located at the bottom of the gray left hand navigation bar. You can search the Canvas Guides , chat online, email, or call. The phone number for student support is: 1 (833) 820-4070

Students! As we approach midterms, don't forget about the Parkside Academic Resource Center.

The Parkside Academic Resource Center (PARC) offers free academic support, including tutoring and supplemental instruction, in a variety of undergraduate subjects each fall and spring semester.

A team of qualified tutors, student success coaches, and supplemental instruction leaders along with on-demand resources and online tutoring are here to help you!

The PARC offers walk-in math tutoring, anatomy and physiology walk-in lab tutoring, chemistry walk-in tutoring, Spanish walk-in tutoring, as well as writing assistance, and tutoring by appointment. There's also a student success coach available Monday and Wednesday afternoons to help you develop better study habits (and much more).

Don't forget about NetTutor, either, which is available through the D2L learning management system. Click here for more information about the PARC .
