On Sunday, April 7th
the Village will hold its 7th
Annual One Stop Drop recycling event in the parking lot of Amberley Green from noon to 4:00 pm. A variety of vendors will be collecting recyclable items.
- Cohen Recycling will accept a variety of electronics. As a general rule, if it plugs in or takes a battery, they can recycle it.
- Royal Paper will provide confidential paper shredding. Paper must be clean and dry and have no binders, binder clips or metal stays.
- Scrap It Up will collect a limited number of items. Due to limited storage space, they will only accept the following: craft paint, canvasses, crayons, chalk, pencils, markers, buttons, beads, wire and clear containers with lids.
- Goodwill will be accepting clothing and small household items.
Last year the items collected diverted 25.3 tons from the landfill. The Environmental Stewardship Committee, which sponsors this event, hopes residents will take advantage of the recycling options offered at the One Stop Drop.

Update: Temporary Moratorium on Certain Accessory Structures Lifted
At the recommendation of the Board of Zoning Appeals and Law Committee, Village Council approved a six-month moratorium on October 8 related to construction of certain accessory structures over 200 square feet. The moratorium was designed to allow adequate time for Amberley Village staff, Planning Commission and Village Council members to study and investigate accessory structures in the Village and develop fair and equitable regulations governing the structures.
After having the item on the Council agenda from October through February and holding a public hearing,
Village Council approved Ordinance 2018-13
, Amending Zoning Code and Regulation of Accessory Structures. The ordinance was passed as an emergency so residents may resume paused construction projects.
Listed below is a summary of the changes to the accessory structure zoning regulations:
- Detached garages can be built up to 800 square feet or up to 50% of the principal structure, whichever is less.
- Accessory structures such as sheds and pool houses may be constructed up to 200 square feet.
- Height cannot exceed 16 feet or up to the same height as principal structure, whichever is less.
- Combination of all structures can't exceed 50% of the principal structure or 50% of the required rear yard.
- Temporary structures like fabric covered car ports are limited to 7 consecutive days or 30 days per year.
- No accessory structure may be used as a residential dwelling or home business.
Please keep in mind when planning the construction of an accessory structure zoning approval must be sought from the Amberley Village prior to construction. In some cases a building permit may also be required from Hamilton County Planning and Development, Division of Buildings and Inspections.

Tax Phishing Scam

A Message From the IRS |
Tax season is the busy season for identity thieves. Be careful when sharing your personal and tax information, particularly on-line. In the Tax-Season Phishing Scam, crooks send fake email, text and other messages that appear to be from the IRS or others in the tax industry, including tax software companies. The fraudsters try to trick unsuspecting victims into revealing personal and financial information that can be used to steal their identities.
The email may seek information related to filing status, personal and PIN information and other tax-related details. It also may ask the victim to click on a bogus website that appears to be an official IRS site but instead uses malware to steal personal information from the victim's computer.
The IRS does not call you and government agencies do not accept gift cards or prepaid debit cards for payment. IRS contact will come through the United States Post Office. Verify any IRS phone or mail inquiries with the IRS by phone at 800-829-1040 or their website.

GCWW Water Main Replacement Update
GCWW has finished with the installation and testing of the new water mains on Arborcrest Court and Drive, Longmeadow Lane, North and South Whitetree Circle, and Lamarque Drive from Longmeadow Lane to Whitetree Circle. They are now in the process of installing residential service connections.
GCWW anticipates completion of residential service connections by mid-April 2019. Expect some minor disruptions in water service during this time. Residents will be notified from GCWW directly with more detail.
Once the residential connections are finished and the fire hydrants are placed in service, the Village
anticipates resurfacing the above-mentioned streets to complete the project. The Village potentially will solicit bids this summer for the resurfacing project.

Report Potholes In Your Neighborhood
We all want to drive on smooth streets but as you might have noticed, potholes are a common problem during the winter months in Ohio. Some of our most valuable infrastructure is affected by the constant freeze and thaw cycles we experience.
Of the 200 bags of cold patch purchased since January 9, the Village Maintenance Department has used 148.5 bags which equates to 3.7 tons of cold patch. If this were purchased in bulk, it would be approximately half a dump truck load!
Amberley Village Maintenance crews strive to catalog and repair severe potholes in a timely and proper manner (often within 24 hours from when they were reported), however on rare occasions a few may go unnoticed. If you are aware of a pothole please report it to the Village at (513) 531-8675. Additionally you can report potholes on our website or by downloading our mobile app!

Calling All Gardeners!
It's time to sharpen your tools and start ordering the seeds you've been dreaming about! The Amberley Green Organic Community Garden has some available plots for the 2019 season, ready to greet new gardeners whether veteran or novice.
For $50 per season (April to November), the garden rental includes:
- A 9' x 15' plot to plant as you desire following organic practices (some restrictions apply)
- Access to garden cart, some tools, compost/mulch, compost pile, water, shed
- Expectation that each gardener participates in periodic work days and regular maintenance tasks
- Friendly gardeners with whom to share ideas or seek input
- Monthly demonstrations of garden techniques and cooking ideas for produce, as a hub garden of the Civic Garden Center

It can also be downloaded and returned to the Amberley Municipal Building at 7149 Ridge Road, 45237. Applications are considered complete when both application and payment are received. Plots are allotted on a first-come basis.

Food Waste Reduction Session
Join Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste for a 45 minute munch-and-learn to discover how to reduce wasting food in your home while saving money!
Participants will leave armed with a "Simple Guide to Preventing Wasted Food" booklet, a fruit and vegetable storage guide, and a kitchen scale (one per household).
Registration is required as seating is limited. Please arrive 15 minutes early with your lunch and a mug for some delicious soup provided by
La Soupe. La Soupe's mission is to bridge the gap between food waste and hunger by rescuing perishable food, transforming it into delicious and nutritious meals, and sharing with the food insecure and our supporters.

Clean the Green
The Environmental Stewardship Committee would like to invite volunteers to participate in the annual Clean the Green days at Amberley Green. Join fellow residents to remove weeds and invasive growth from root zones to ensure healthy trees. Amberley Green is the home to many significant older trees that add beauty and value to the property. Trees help clean air, reduce water run-off, provide food and habitat, as well as enhance mental health.
Volunteers will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 7801 Ridge Road on the following dates: April 18, May 16, June 26, September 19 and October 17. Sun hats, sunscreen and gardening gloves are recommended. Everyone is welcome to join us!

Springtime Babies
Accompanied with the arrival of Spring is the arrival of bundles of joy for multiple species found in the Village. Animals such as rabbits, birds, deer, coyote, raccoons, and squirrels will soon be out and about with their newest little ones and there's a lot we can do to help them stay together safely. A baby wild animal's best chance for survival is with its mother.
As a general rule, the best way to help these animals is to let them be. Wildlife parents are devoted to their young and typically don't abandon them. If you believe there is an injured or abandoned animal in your yard consult the Ohio Department of Natural Resource's

Preparing for Tax Season
When you're ready to file your taxes, the Village makes it easy to access the forms you need as well as a payment option for residents at
www.amberleyvillage.org.
The online form can be completed and mailed in or dropped off at the Amberley Village Municipal Building. Once the form is completed attach your Federal 1040, schedule one, W-2(s) and any other applicable Federal schedule(s).
Payment can be made by check, money order, cash or credit card. Credit card payments are charged a 2.75% surcharge.
Another after hours option is to drop your return and/or payment in the secure Income Tax Drop Box in front of the building. Please do not put cash in the drop box.
The Village will hold extended office hours in April in addition to the regular hours of 8 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please call ahead for availability to reduce unnecessary wait times. The Tax Office is also available for assistance by phone at 531-0130 or via email at

The 2018 tax return and the first quarter 2019 estimated tax payments are due April 15, 2019. The other quarterly estimated payments are due June 15, September 15 and January 15, 2020.
