Southbank
Lend-Lease has chosen
"Southbank" as the name for its portion of the project being developed both north and south of River City. Chicago developer CMK will continue development south of River City under the Riverline name.
Southbank's first building, called Ancora, is topped-out and almost fully enclosed. Ancora is 29 stories with 420 apartments. Earthmoving is well under way for the project's riverwalk extension, expected to open to the public in 2019.
14th & Wabash
Development of the former Columbia College scenery shop at 14th and Wabash may happen sooner than later.
The agenda for the city's April 27 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting includes four relatively minor requests for variations related to development of two buildings on the site: a 15-story building containing 199 units at 51 E. 14th, and a 10-story building containing 62 units at 1419 S. Wabash. The corner building would include parking for 88 vehicles, serving both addresses. Both buildings would include ground-floor retail spaces.
